Nobody can prove one is better than the other because it is personal preference. I loved the sport design wheel and thought that I could get voice control option to remedy my hands off issues but in cleveland heated steering wheel is a blessing and that's why I got it. I hope they make heated option in the sport design.

i had buttons on 09, went to paddles on 11', went back to buttons and multi on 12' and my 13'..... i like push pull cause can do with either hand... also multifunction is great to keep your eyes on the road.

Multifunction is very nice with a MT. I'd get the Sport Design for a PDK.

I do not need flappy paddles as my 991c2s has a proper 3 pedal 7mt.

I testdrove both SportDesign with paddles and Multifuntioin with buttons. I made some erronous shifts with the buttons, and constantly had to think about what I was doing. None of that with the Sportdesign paddles. Shifting with paddles just comes natural to me. It's also the standard which almost everything and everyone uses, race cars, sportscars, even playstation steering wheels. It's the de facto standard setup that leaves least room for errors in fast or competitive driving.

Took a day to adapt to the buttons. Buttons are better because at no time do I take any part of my hand off the wheel. Safer. Faster. Ambidextrous. No missed or accidental shifts. No confusion on what to do. My initial thinking was that paddles would be better. MFW is more efficient though. Paddles just replicate an inefficient design on F1 cars that already have too many displays and buttons on their steering wheels.

As others have written - buy what you prefer, you will get used to how they work.
When I had my test drive in a standard button-shift wheel car, they felt backwards to me because I had a BMW with push-pull buttons that worked the opposite, just like the shifter! So, I went sport design with no regrets ... except I really would still like the multifunction controls.

When tracking the car, under real hard braking right before a bend you'd be surprised how many times the lower part of your thumb would accidentally hit the button and make you upshift. When hard braking your whole body is pushed forward. Having no 6 point harness means your hands on the wheel are the only thing stopping your body/face from going forward.

This is multiplied the bigger your hands are.

Paddles for me

I'm a push-pull fan but I have to agree that on the track they are an issue. Experienced this last week at the Porsche Driving School.
