I have it. I can't see how it's useful. It does look cool though. I wouldn't have ordered it, but it came with the car I got which was a nicely discounted 2012 leftover.

It does have one feature that has nothing to do with the tranny - dynamic engine mounts. I don't know exactly when that is used, all the time or just in sport plus, or what the great advantage is. If anyone could educate me on this, I'd appreciate it.

Actually, in researching my own question, which I've been wondering about for some time, I came up with the following article:

http://www.porsche.com/microsite/tec...nMoLa&pool=usa

Whether that's noticeable to me and makes a real world difference, I don't know. I suppose I'd have to drive them back to back, with and without, but I'm not sure I'd miss it if it weren't there. Again, maybe someone with more experience can chime in about this.

If you are ordering one, then it will have rev matching downshifts, which in conjunction with PSE, sounds amazing
The 3rd to 2nd gear downshift is my favorite sound especially when followed by the exhaust pops and burbles on de-acceleration.

Is that true on a manual?

Does Rev Matching require Sport Plus mode?
Do the dynamic engine mounts require Sport Plus mode?

Yes.
Dynamic engine mounts come with sport chrono.

What's the point of a manual that rev matches for you? I stay in Sport mode most of the time and only move to Sport Plus if I'm feeling super lazy...

I AGREE!

Heck many can argue that sport chrono is MORE important in manuals than in PDK equipped cars. Regardless, its THE must have option.

I dont have rev matching on mine but I suppose it's because it's a 2012 car?? If that is the case does anyone know if Porsche can do a software update to my car to have rev matching?

Sport Chrono makes a big difference in 7MT cars as well, and I don't have rev matching in my '13 as I believe it was one of the first released in 2012(july). Aside from the dynamic engine mounts, it makes a significant difference in the way the car revs, rides and corners. The PDCC is only maximized when sport plus is engaged and the ride is firmer, albeit rougher, but so much more responsive. Each gear revs higher at lower speeds and gives a much greater appreciation of the torque range.

What do you mean that each gear revs higher at lower speeds? The gear ratios don't change, do they? How would the rpms be affected?

After all the unbelievable animosity towards PDK only in the GT3 because it "removes the mechanical connection with the car of doing your own heal-toe, etc" I don't understand why people order a self rev-matching manual transmission...
