Michelin tires
I need new tires and hate the original Pirellis. Dealer only wants to install the OE Pirellis, he says the Michelin pilot sport max is not N rated. I think I will still go with the Michelins and install them somewhere else...any opinions
thanks

I had the GY F1 on a previous car. They were great in the wet and OK in the dry, but once they got closer to needing to be replaced they were very noisy. I didn't realize it because it happened very slowly over their lifespan, but when I changed to the Michelin PSS it was amazing how much quieter the car was.

That said, my next tire will likely be the PSS just so I can compare the two. I'm sure it's probably a better tire from all the rave reviews it gets here.

thanks everyone for the info...however apparently availability for the 2 front is bad (Michelin 245-35-20)! how can that be?? On a new tire?Dose that mean if I need to replace a front, ill need weeks before getting one?

Yes, see the other recent thread where I posted about this. If you need new tires now (like me), the PSS are not an option. Tire Rack rep I spoke to said it would be 8 weeks minimum for fronts from time of order.

I'm running PSS on my 19" wheels. 245/40/19 upfront and 295/35/19. I absolutely love these tires. Wet and dry grip is fantastic. I've even been using them for cooler track days, and I don't think i'm giving anything up to some of the higher performing non romp tires.

I used PSS's on my Cayman S after trying PS2's and Asymmetrics. The PSS's were absolutely superior in every way....dry grip, wet grip, wear, noise....you name it. They are good enough for Ferrari....they are good enough for Porsche.
One more thing....my dealer never said a word about warranty issues and happily installed the tires matching the Tire Rack price. When my Pirelli's are done....I will switch to the PSS's.

Curious as to why you "hate" the OE Pirellis? I think they're a great all around tire for both street and track use. Low noise, good ride on street, solid in the wet; quick to get to operating temp on the track, good overall grip, predictable breakaway at the limit...you could do a lot worse.
