I've been running 19" wheels with Michelin PSS at the track. I haven't found an r-comp that has the right sizes in 19". The PSS have excellent grip, and while not quite as fast as r-comps still fair pretty well at the track.

Would love to run a set of Trofeo R, but at around $2800 a set up here in Canada, it just isn't worth it...

I don't see the point of getting 19's unless it's to open up options for tires. I can get MPSS for the 20's (though they are backordered currently)

Running r-comp will increase brake pads wear and dump more heat into the brake fluid, so make sure you flush with higher boiling point brake fluid before going to the track.

I just ordered Volk TE37SL-Porsche 19" wheels plus Hoosier A6 in 235/35 fronts and 315/30 in rears. The 235s are an oversized tire from what I read (between a 245 and 255 wide tire) and the 315s will clear based on my tire shops advice. I think if there is any induced understeer due to wider rears, the "larger fronts" and being a C4S will help balance this configuration. The wheel diameter difference from front vs rear is .5 inch
I plan to drive my car to the track (about 30 minutes each way by highway) as well.
Will let everyone know how they perform but if they are anything like the ones on my GT-R, this is as good as it gets for tires.

I'm considering getting track tires for the stock Carrera Classic wheels as well...

how about the Hankook R-S3's? Ive been told these are amazing and less expensive track tires.

20" sizes offered by Tire Rack
255/40ZR20
265/35ZR20
285/35ZR20
305/35ZR20

thoughts?

Also, I've heard that Trofeo's only last a couple track days, which would make me pretty hesitant to buy them, especially since they're probably more expensive than the Corsas.
The Sport Techno's that run the 305's are 11.5" ET 68 and all the other wheels running 295's are 11" ET 70. With a 2mm difference in the offsets and 12.7mm difference in width, I think the 305's should also fit when mounted on wheels
other than the Sport Technos.

Worthwhile Checking with TireRack or WheelEnhancement...

I have been running 20" MPSS 305 on my C2S with 11" Carrera Classic wheels all summer on the road and at the track with no problem.

For stock width factory or aftermarket 19 inch wheels:
Toyo R888 245/35 - 19 Front 295/30 - 19 rear. Good grip, 7/32" tread, low cost. I use them.

Appreciate the info!

Any idea on how they compare to OEM P-Zero's on the street for wear?

Treadwear is 80...so not as good as the factory P-Zero on wear. In every other aspect they're far superior.

FWIW from the 991 owners manual:

The fitting of racing tires (e.g. slicks) for sporting events is not approved by Porsche.
Very high cornering speeds can be achieved with racing tires. The resulting transverse acceleration values would jeopardise the adequate supply of oil to the engine.
Porsche therefore refuses to accept any guarantee or liability for damage occurring as a result of non-compliance with this provision.

R compounds are not racing tires (slicks), they are department of transportation approved street tires.
