Got popped last night for my 2nd speeding ticket in 3 mos. The frustrating thing is both have been "garbage" tickets where I haven't even been hooning around, just caught out by how slow this car feels at moderate speeds on divided boulevards / freeways.

Used my defensive driving for the year already, so this one is going to be harder. Time to pop for the Escort install or a V1, I guess. In the meantime I'm going to have to get in the habit of using the cruise control even in the city!

Get the escort and learn to know when to slow and when to go. Otherwise you gotta learn to use all that power responsibly man.

Or get the V1 and find out watch direction the emitter is coming from; emitters aimed at your vehicle sides would not be a real threat. And so the radar war of words is on again. zzzzzz

Sorry for your troubles. I feel completely defenseless without a radar detector. As you say, not because you're out terrorizing the streets but just for the kind of situation you describe where you are caught out a few mph over the limit. Definitely get a detector. I have a V1 for each of my cars.

Exactly. It would be easier to swallow if I had been out driving like a maniac, but this was the second time I've been passed by a cop, then looked down and realized I'm doing ~10 mph over when I feel like I'm crawling already. Time to up for a good detector.

I spoke with one today. He claims he can probably get it completely dismissed. Fee is $250. A friend of mine here that drives a Cayman and has had a habit of getting speeding tickets says forget the attorney and elect to take it to trial. He's gotten deferred disposition on 9 different tickets in our county/city courts by just claiming trial and then negotiating a settlement that keeps it off the record.

Not sure which route I'll take just yet, but if the atty can convince me it'll be done and dusted for $250 with no hassle / appearance, I'll probably just take that option.

This is the main reason I got rid of my 911...I was getting "profiled" in the car like crazy...just wasn't worth it, and as you say, most all of the tickets (yes...multiple) were BS tickets as well. Cops had nothing better to do than stop an expensive car going 47 in a 40...geez...get a life

Does the opposite ever occur? I have never gotten a ticket here in Michigan in 4 years driving Porsches. There are very few Porsches in my area. I see BMW's (especially) pulled over all the time. Since people love cars around here, perhaps the cops have a certain "respect" for Porsches and their drivers? It's a blue collar area, nobody has Porsches for status around here....

I have taken out insurance that pays for a lawyer to go to court with me to fight speeding and other traffic tickets. Only thing they won't go to court for is a DUI but they will consult with you before you have to appear if your stuck with that. Cost is $80 per year.

Sorry to hear about your woes.
I recently got nailed for "flying" at 39mph in a 35 miles zone - yes 4 mph over.
Not sure if a monthly quota had been given to the officer, but it got thrown out of court and was a waste of tax payers money and everyone's time.
I suppose at the end of the day we're all just doing our jobs...

What a great idea, never heard of that. Will they drop you if you start racking up tickets? One would think so. I have never been but have been told that BC does not mess around with speeding tickets. Heard stories of cars repossessed for flagrant offenders etc.
