Question Postpone my order for MY2014?

Hi everyone,

I'm seeking some advice... I recently placed my order for a C2S, the estimate is that I'd get it delivered by the end of June. I've been contemplating this purchase for the better part of a year now.

I was recently advised that if I wanted to, I could delay my build to June and take delivery of a MY2014 model in August.

Does this make a big difference? Is it worth waiting for? Are any enhancements expected from Porsche?

Bearing in mind, I did not order in December when I originally got a quote, and due to forex fluctuations, our local Porsche dealership had a price increase (about $6000)... the South African Rand is not doing particularly well at the moment, and there is no guarantee that if I wait for the June build that their won't be another increase.

But this December increase is what's bothering me... I will effectively be taking delivery in June of a 2013 model that cost me $6000 more than someone taking delivery of a car in April that will be exactly the same... so is it worth hoping for a 2014 model at current pricing?

Yeah, I'm over-analysing, but I figure at this price point you've gotta be sure, right?

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, I think you are asking unanswerable questions. My guess is there will be no discernible differences between my2013 and my2014 cars.

If you plan to keep the car, you should be indifferent between the model years, take delivery and start enjoying your car at a known price.

If you plan to trade it, perhaps the newer model year is of some value, but you may give up any benefit to another price increase/currency fluctuation.

I say take the 2013 and start having fun sooner rather than later. That's just my 2 rand.

I would wait for sure!...when you enjoy the car for say three years you will be selling the car into the re-sale market one model year newer...for a premium no doubt. If you are indifferant to a couple of months I would wait..

I slipped my C4S Cab from a first March then late April build to a 2014. I have waited 5 months at that point, so as long as I do a monthly trip to dealer an he lets me drive a 991 I am sort of OK. So yes I am waiting for the MY14. Normally one sees at 10% hit on value for model year change from 5 previous Porsche ownership experiences.

Just heard LED headlights (light the Audi) may be an option.

Perhaps - they are an option on the GT3.

Of course, it was a $3500 option on the Audi R8!!! Probably even more with the Porsche name.

Oh,,, I would strongly encourage you to wait the 30 days. The USA dealership network will be receiving their 2014 order guide's in late April 2013 with the first wave of 2014 ordering in April/May. The second production year will incorporate build nuances learned from the 991 cars already sold/warrantied.
If it were my $100,000 being spent, I'd wait. My .02

I was in the same boat as you. And decided to wait and put down my deposit for a MY 2014. Hopefully the price doesn't increase. Who knows if there will be any small changes. It's going to be a long few months.

Wait - 50th Anniversary model info coming soon as well. I am told I will be possibly getting delivery of this in the fall as a very high likelihood from my dealer. Also, Geneva tomorrow, might give you an idea of 2014 model changes.

Thanks everyone... BTW, I'm told the 50th anniversary edition is expected to be double the price of a C2S...

If they can offer me an assurance on the price being fixed because of my deposit, then I'll wait.

Your's was the first of 10 replies... and you had me sold with your final statement (after recognising that it is indeed an unanswerable question)

But I waited and read everyone else's replies too, so now I'm more confused than ever! I guess I had that coming...

If they give me some pricing guarantees, I will wait, if they can't then I'm confirming my order this week.

Thanks.

I think 50th anniversary edition will only be for 3.4L carrera as there is no S variant on 1963, no?
Anyway, price should not be double since this is not limited edition numbered car like 997 sport classic, +-10% more with special interior and exterior color is more like it.

Is there any information what maybe new for the 2014 c2? With lease, is it good or bad to order a 2013, or wait for 2014?
