Default Any Inherent 991 Issues?

I am on the verge of pulling the trigger on a 991 order - it will replace my 2005 997, which I still love but am too worried over the ims issue (and perhaps a bit of an excuse to order a more modern car) - I am regretting buying the first year 997, it seems Porsches struggled with the issue until 2009 - I know the 991 has been with us for a year or so now, has there yet to be any issues like ims showing up so that I will again regret buying an early (though not as early) model?

Thank you for any input

I have had mine for a a year and 12k miles with no mechanical issues. A very early production car (Jan 12) it has been in for half a dozen "campaign" calls to fix stuff as running improvements were made to production processes. I suspect those have been ironed out.

One thing needing revision is the door mirror on the coupes - makes a racket when windows are all the way down - unless the roof is popped up. Based on commentary here there are some small issues with engine compartment lids and gas caps not opening or locking, but nothing like major engine or trans issues.

May be more addicting than crack cocaine.

They take too long to arrive.

(trysixty's fault, he started it!)

I am scared to speak to soon but I had a 2012 march build and the car has been perfection. Knock on wood. One small recall for the wind deflector on the cab. Otherwise amazing for a first run. By the way I had a 2005 997 as well and was also worried about the IMS.

I have one of the launch cars and like chuckbdc, just a few campaigns but nothing material or mechanical. absolutely love it. came out of a 997 C2 and haven't looked back.

Look, the car is huge. Enormous. Guy I know had to pave over his tennis court just so he could park it in the boundary of his property.

Other than that, though.......

I haved loved every Porsche I have owned. The 991 is no exception. There is a certain charm that the air cooled cars have that is lacking in the 991. Also lacking it the 996 and 997. The trade off is the car is better, in any way I can think of to measure, when compared to any previous Porsche. If you are really a hard core sports car guy you might prefer a GT3...I could never keep my license with one. I may be in a minority here, but I have never had anything break on any 911 I've owned. This is not to say I haven't spent a bunch of dough on them, just never had to fix anything. You will just love the car.

I have a launch car. A few campaigns that were trivial. I never noticed that they did anything to the car. A great car. I have owned a bunch of 911's and this is my favorite.
