Comparing a modern day 911 to any of the air cooled breeds, let alone a customized $500K 911 is like an apples/watermelon comparison IMHO.

The new 991 is an incredible car but it is miles apart from the old air cooled cars. That's a good thing too.

But that heritage and history that Porsche has is ingrained into most everything they build except maybe the Panamera and Cayenne. The Cayman is not a lesser car by any stretch, it is simply targeted towards a different buyer.

I don t know there but here (in Europe) the Cayman or the boxter
are named the Hairdresser's Porsche!

That may once have been the case here, but no more. They have, by their far superior performance to anything else in their price class, and their ever more obvious sharing of critical components and ergonomics, earned their way into detailed arguments about how they compare with 911s, with the critical differences being perception of value and for a few holdouts, prestige.
