This makes sense as with the other 911 variations the S model is launched along with the base one, so why do so differently for the turbo as they have done in the past. Great if both versions are released together. Buyers will have an option. Though the turbo base would be a better deal if you don't want expensive options like ceramic brakes.

(as I had a pre-order sine jan 2012 for a 991 turbo, we will be given the choice for turbo or turbo s come september. I would prefer a turbo s but without those PCCBs...which will be impossible, in rain situations they really were a nuisance on my 997 4S)

But it will be as I wrote above, dealer has certitude that the car will be unveiled at Frankfurt and will be simultaneously be released in Turbo S guise. There has been a lot of negative reaction from 997 turbo buyers who got their car delivered same moment the turbo S got launched. So now there will be direct choice. And guess what : this will result in bigger portion of turbo S buyers => more money for Porsche, that's all they want...

My dealer said there may only be a turbo S, no baseline turbo...of course I find that pretty ridiculous. Trickling out marginal model upgrades is what keeps the profits flowing!
