Just arrived from Germany...
Thanks to Ryan @ Suncoast, they arrived sooner than we thought!
991 Clear Tail Lights - but no install instructions, hehe. Can anyone give me a few tips for removing the 991 tail lights and installing these?
I'm about to go tinker around but thought I'd post this first just in case someone has a good idea. If nothing else, I'll call the local dealership but I'd love to get these on without resorting to that

Many thanks to I'mAllIn, over in another forum - You saved the day over here Once the covers are popped off under the spoiler, the rear tails come off easy as pie. About as plug-and-play as you can get, way to go Porsche!
(when activated they are red like the regular tails)

That is an interesting look, I am not sure if I like it or not.

So far as I know, the law only says what color they must be when illuminated. Older incandescent lights emitted at a somewhat yellow color temperature that we conventionally call 'white' and the lens was red to satisfy the law. With modern technology, especially high-intensity LED bulbs, it is possible to use a 'white' lens, which is what rpilot has installed, but have the red light come from the bulb itself.
The same is true of our running lights. Mine look white in daylight, but when they light they are yellow, as required by law.
I haven't looked into the devices to see if they use LED's that emit colored light or if they have a smaller lens fitted over a white LED bulb. Either would work and I haven't kept up with the lumen levels possible from colored LED emitters. With small LED's, we had colored units long before we had useful white ones, but I never have checked whether the technology used then has scaled up to modern LED lights or if they use a different technique now.
Either way, the law is satisfied if the light reaching the viewer is the correct color when the running lights are turned on or the brakes are depressed. Anybody else remember when broke teens (like me) would 'fix' a broken taillight lens by taping red cellophane wrapping paper over the hole? Cheap way to avoid a ticket.

thanks guys - I realize its not something for everyone..I've just been fantasizing about clear tails against the anthracite brown for a while now and really excited to see them on the car. I'll take an extra daylight pic or two in a little bit. Also just ordered painted bumper reflectors curtesy of BumperPlugs (to remove the red) now that the clear tails are in.

I originally ordered these for my white Cab but changed as I wanted some different colour on the outside. I do have the rear apron painted white and the mirrors so needed a little offset in the colours.
