Picture of expel install - feedback please
Here is a snap i took of the hood of my car.
The installer, a high end place that isn't inexpensive, recently reinstalled the hood
film due to another issue.
I collected the car at night and did not see this until the next day. The same problem also is apparent on the other hood edge.
I'm getting a little tired of these problems, but wanted to ask and double check that im not being too fussy with this.
Thanks

Limey,
No you are not too fussy. I have attached the link to my thread on the Xpel install on mine with plenty of pictures. https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=42630

That's why I don't clearbra. That is an obvious installation error, but I can spot even a full wrapped car at a glance. Plastic film just doesn't look as rich as factory paint.

Looks like the edge is lifting from the corner? My installer used diluted solution of water and alcohol to float and position the film, and he used degreaser for the edges under the hood to ensure a clean surface for a good adhesive bond, he also used heat gun on the edges to soften the film just a bit to mold the film around the edge so the film doesn't have the tendency to "spring" back up again.

I drive an hour and a half to the best detailer around - it's totally worth it. I don't let anyone touch my car who aren't Porschefiles themselves Glad it's taken care of.

It should be tucked under edges and then trimmed at the pointed edges where it cannot be tucked under (due to the obvious bunching).
See attached picture to better illustrate.
I was also fortunate enough to have the most ****-retentive installer on the planet.
This is what mine looks like.
I hope this help.

What i think happened is they simply forgot to trim it. Lack of quality control was surprising, but there you go

Uh, NO!!
My wrapped edge is only about 1/4", neatly trimmed to bond only to the folded lip of the sheet metal of the hood, and the trimming was done BEFORE the film was applied, I suppose someone can still carefully trim off the excess now but there is the risk of cutting into the paint, albeit it is the underside of the hood.
I'm sorry but what you picture showed is just shoddy work even on a Honda, let alone on a car like yours.

What in the name of ...!!!
Where's the hidden camera?
Does your installer suffer from severe A-D-D.
That is absolutely atrocious!!
All the excess film should have been trimmed with an Exacto knife and smoothed out.

All's well that ends well
I went back to Xpel today and they went over the top to get the install perfect. Can't say thanks enough to Tim, Eric, and Adrian at Xpel!
If anyone in the Houston area is looking for an Xpel installation, give Eric Petree a call at 832.414.4387.
