Default Custom order questions

Hi Guys…after almost 4 years without a Porsche, I am ready for another one. However, with my business/ travel arrangement, I want to receive the car in mid-August. Based on the information in this forum, it takes about 3 months from the date of ordering to actual receive the car. If that is the case I should be ordering it sometime in May. Now here is my question:

1. Usually which month will Porsche starts to build the new model year? I don’t mind waiting until September to get the car if I am getting a MY2014.
2. I am considering PTS (Mexico Blue or Gulf Orange), how often do Porsche schedule in the PTS production? If I don’t do PTS, I am ordering it in Racing Yellow.
3. Targa is considered also but if I do PTS, how late can I change the order? Since there is no word on when the Targa will come out.

Thanks all.

The factory starts the change over towards the late part of June. If you want a PTS car then ordering in May is too late for a 2013 car. 2014 cars start to deliver in the Sept/Oct time frame.

I highly recommend reading thru the "custom ordering" tread. Just search "custom ordering" and there are 9 pages of very helpful tips and info about over a PTS and LTS (leather to Sample interior) car.

If you do order a non-standard, Porsche Exclusive car, expect 4 to 5 months from the date you order before delivery. It also depends on the car allotment date from your dealership. If their allotment is 4 months out then you have a good chance of getting a PTS car in four months. If their allotment is 2 months out, forget it being delivered in 2 months.

As for changing an order, if ordering a PTS or LTS car it is pretty well locked in very shortly are you order; do not expect to change you order, even for something very simple, within a couple of months of the build date.

Once again, read the "custom ordering" tread within the 991 site.

Good luck.

Well no more MY2013 PTS... according to the dealer, since Porsche is not taking any PTS order at this moment they didn't give an answer on what is acceptable PTS color. Anyway, need to check back with them again in May/ June for MY2014.

I have put deposit down for 50th Anniversary model but will probably not like the limits of the package. So I am probably going PTS Mexico Blue C4S - cab or coupe, not sure yet. I like the Amber orange with the MB exterior...so going two tone Black and Amber LTS. Send me your config build, I would like to see what you are planning for your PTS 991.

Just from this forum, looks like Porsche will have at least 3 Mexico Blue 991s to paint.
