Default steering

I initially had a lot of reservations in regards to the electric motor assisted steering, but I have to admit that it is quite good.

Except at a stop. It feels like the nice weighty feel goes all limp. I am sure that is to help with manuvering the car, but it feels just TOO light. It feels strange to not have any resistance.

With a hydraulic pump, moving the steering wheel while stopped puts a lot of strain on the rack...is that still the case with this new system?

As I understand it, the electric motor places the same forces on the rack that the hydraulic system did. The main differences in feel are that the new geometry tunes out specific moments (especially steering wheel movements) that the engineers decided to dampen- to go along with the other changes- wheelbase and various optional control technologies. They left in the ability to feel the road and the tire reactions while increasing responsiveness and ultimate grip.

Sorry to hear that. I don't feel what you explained at all. I have power plus. Steering is spot on, although I went on the first couple of test drives before buying I tried to convince myself the new steering was substandard. Interesting.

It is only at a dead stop that it feels limp, like when stopped at a traffic light. When driving it is nicely firm and precise.

Does anyone else experience this? I have a MY 2012...curious to know whether it changed on the MY 2013.

Right. At a dead stop I don't experience that, sir. Not at all. Take it to the repair shop?
