Ex 911 owner - time to get back in a 911 !!
I traded my 05 997 C2S for an Audi S5 Cabriolet...... For the first few months I loved it - new toy etc....
BUT... I now miss my Porsche! The Audi is a nice car, but it's no Porsche 911.
I'm now torn between a loaded 997.2 C4S (09 or 10 reg) or Base 991 (12 reg) - a new 991 is out of budget right now after the Audi loss.
I just thought I'd ask the question on this forum for anyone who went 997 to 991 - would you strongly advise a 991 over a 997? Is it that much of a better car? The 997 forum would suggest not - but hey - they ain't got one!
One of the things that drew me to the Audi S5 was the Multimedia system. Is the cockpit and MMI interface much improved on the 991 over a 997?

Oh HoHoHo, are you in for a treat. 991 all the way, no second thoughts. The whole PCM/NAV system is markedly improved from the 997.
I liked my 997, but I am blown away by my 991.

damn! I was hoping you'd say it's just a small upgrade and go for the cheaper option ;-)
But thanks - I really should test drive a 911 - i'll speak to my local dealer tomorrow!

No competition. Went from a 997.2 to a 991. Inside and out its better. I drove my buddies 997.2s over the weekend. The 991 felt faster and more grounded. The interior is a complete upgrade. The electronic steering complaints was BS. THe 991 is the 997.2 but a bit better in EVERY way.

This is funny. I did '09 997 - '13 S5 - '12 991.
Go 991 - its the S5 multimedia (almost) with race car chassis that was gonna cost a fortune to upgrade on the S5 and still be nowhere near a 991.
Just go 991. Really. Take the loss and do it, and go driving.

I went from a 997.2 to a 991 and THERE IS NO COMPARISON!!! It is a night and day difference in the PDK transmission, engine response, overall ride, interior, etc, etc, etc.....
I would say definately go for a 991.

I've been in a 997 since '05 and am going to a 991, once I get some things sorted out. I love the 997, but the 991 is somehow a more wonderful car. Not sure how Porsche did it, but it just keeps getting better and we just keep coming back. Cheers.
