Question Min options for resale value

I'm about to order a minimum optioned 991 or 991 S, however dealer keeps telling me the resale appeal/value would be a problem if I don't get the sunroof as a minimum since he's never seen a 911 traded in without one. However, I really don't like the steel roof as I would probably never open it, and the glass roof doesn't look nice with a white car.

Any truth to this?

My min spec is:
- White
- PDK
- 20" Classic Carrera Wheels

Anything else that would be a min requirement for resale appeal down the line?

Thanks!

Just sport chrono especially if getting the S. Multifunction steering or sportdesign steering.

I always spec as little as I can - frankly, so many of the expensive toys are seldom used after a month or two.

if you don't want a sunroof don't get one and don't be shuffled into it by the salesman.

Get what you want and enjoy the car. Besides, options will cost you more now and pay you back very little at resale.

I would have gladly bought a new one without sunroof if I could have so I think potential buyers down the road would be evenly divided. It's a given on ANY car that you never recoup as much of option cost versus base cost on resale so your basic car would hold up quite well percentage wise.
I am also a proponent of ordering what you want, instead of what the salesman thinks or what the next owner someday might want.

If you are going pay this much for a 991, get what you like and stop thinking about what a future buyer might want. i didnt order a sunroof because I have had it in all of my cars except one and Maybe I opened the sunroof 20 times in 30 years.

thanks for the feedback. i think i'll spend that sunroof $ on the sports design steering wheel with paddles instead no chrono package, cannot pull myself to adding that option as much as i'd like, just puts it over the monthly payment budget.

I've been encouraged to get PASM on the S for resale and since it's really fun, but Sport Chrono seemed like a lot to pay for a little clock and launch control.

I loved 'Sport' - don't need 'Sport Plus' I think - I'm not tracking it.

He's "never seen a 911 without a sunroof traded" , because since 99 all USA 911's came standard with a sunroof.
It may be longer than that if 993's came standard with the roof.
Ask him just how many times he's seen those sunroofs actually used ?

That is not entirely true, I dont track either, dont care for the clock or launch control and think that sport plus in auto mode is overkill for the streets, but I would get it over and over again just for Sport Plus in manual mode with paddles, its absolutely amazing, very fast and aggressive shifting at your own will, worth every penny in both S and non S.

PASM is std on the "S", but a Base w/o PASM is perfectly fine.

The great thing about the 991 options are that you can go bare minimums or tailor the car more toward a GT with lots of luxury items, or in my case, a sports car. I have a Platinum Silver C2S coming in December with 7MT, Sport Seats Plus, PSE, SPASM and Sport Design steering wheel and last but not least the Sport Chrono package. Did anyone say Sports car!

Buy the Porsche YOU want, not the one the next owner wants.

Get what you want. I am loving my sun roof-free setup. No cut lines, lighter, no squeaks.

I think it helps to think of the modes not as Normal, Sport, and Sport Plus, but rather as Eco, Normal, and Sport.

(That said, I would love a Sport 1/2 slotted between Sport and Sport Plus. This would, IMO, be perfect for spirited street driving.)
