Default Porsche World Roadshow Houston at Motorsport Ranch

Went to this event yesterday. Drove a Panamerica GTS, 981 Boxster S, 991Carrera and 991 Carrera S on track. Great event. Here are some pics:

The Panamera GTS was a great GT. Planted, the all wheel drive was so stable on transition. The 981 Boxster S was in a way my favorite on the track. You could feel all our tires working and it started to rotate a bit when I really pushed it, but in a good way. Our son Max thought it was his favorite.

The Carreras were great. Made me realize I'm driving my 991 like my mom.

Really glad Max could experience these cars in this venue Thanks to Porsche NA.

Dealers are sent a small number of invites to use with serious customer prospects. They are instructed to not invite people who have recently purchased top of the line Porsches. I had recently purchased my 991 so I badgered my salesman until he bought me off with an invitation to get me to go away.

Porsche's marketing department may get even however- I came away quite astounded by the Panamera GTS. Now my car is in for service and I have a Panamera V6 as a loaner- and am loving that too. It is no substitute for a 911, but just may be for everything else.

Wow that looks like an amazing event and great time !! Was that your first time driving a 981? Was just wondering what you thought about it in comparison to the older 987.

Well-keep in mind they do have to deal with what they have available. The AC campaign took longer than expected - lots to stuff to remove and replace to fix the leaks found at both ends of the system, during which I had an Audi Q5. That is a very nice daily driver of a mid size SUV crossover.

Now the front seal campaign is in progress- if a week and half can be considered progress. But I sure don't want them going faster than they feel they need to. I guess that between the time and my daily expressed boredom of "having to drive a truck", they humored me with the Panamera when it became available.

I was at the event too - am planning on getting a 911 this January. I thought the 981 handled the best on the track and I felt very comfortable pushing it. The Pana GTS scared me at first being so large, but just as the track session was ending I was getting the feel of it. Both 911's (base and S) were outstanding. Could have driven all of the cars all day.

I have my car back- and its "perfect again" (until the next campaign I guess). The lasting effect is that I am now longing for a Panamera!
