991 vs C63
I currently have a 2012 C63 sedan as daily driver. I also have a couple other 2 seater cars for the weekend activities, but recently I have been wanting to find a way to take my two young boys (6, 3) along with me to share the sports car experience.
As I see it the only current sports car that serves all my purposes (daily driving, sportive, and room for small kids) is the 991. So today I went to test a 991S with PDK. I enjoyed the car, the interior is a significant upgrade to prior models, and the build quality is evident. The drive was great, but I think I have been spoiled by my C63 in that the engine felt good but somewhat anemic in the 991S. Thats an exaggeration on my part but I wonder if I've become spoiled by the additional torque and hp in the C63, it certainly can be felt seat of the pants. I would love to hear comments from others that either have compared these two cars or have an opinion on the matter. No doubt the cars are different (the c63 is a muscle car although no slouch in the handling and driver feedback either).
The rest of the drive was great although I think I would go with the MT; my commute is just a few miles and not much traffic to speak of, and I already have what I think is the supreme DCT in my 458.

The 991 S is a very capable and potent car. The anemic thing is just an initial feeling ( I had it too on test drive) that will go away once you drive it for a while and realize that it is very fierce indeed in sport + mode. I think it can kick C63's *** any day. But compared to your DCT 458, of course it is a step back.

I love the C63,....if I had room for a few cars a C63 would be taking up some space,.....but as you said the 991 and C63 are very different tools,.....one a hammer, the other a scalpel. I also like that it is one of the last NA big engined AMGs out there, no turbos for me please.
First there's no denying that a C63 has gobs more torque and more HP, but in a much heavier package, and yes, initially a 991 will feel a bit soft below 4K rpm compared to the Benz. If you look at all the published timings between each,....they are either a wash or the 991S a tick ahead, so yes it has the speed you just have to go get it.
Second, if the 991 didn't have a few thousand miles on it, it won't even be broken in yet and believe me there's a huge difference in performance once a Porsche engine is broken in a bit. Also it takes a bit of driving to be at one with a Porsche. The magic begins once you meld with it, then you see how special they really are.
If you absolutely need a sports car with a pair of small seats, then yes a 991 is one of the few if not THE only one that fills the bill.
Stick vs PDK,....you can't lose with either. Just pick the one you like the most.

What you crave is torque, and the 991S will be relatively short in that department. Most people just focus on HP and that won't necessarily provide the acceleration that many people crave. An extreme example was the Honda S2000 which had decent HP at very high rpms but the torque of an economy car. If you crave acceleration in a practical car, you can't go wrong with the M5. A
C63 AMG is no slouch either.

I had a .2 GT3 RS up until last year and I enjoyed it tremendously. I am trying to get close to that feeling in a car but share it with my kids .. no M5s or similar

How about a 997 Turbo (for now) and then a 991 Turbo. Now you will have grunt.
And it you really want grunt, my buddy just picked up a 2013 Shelby 500 with 662 hp. Nice acceleration if you want your eyeballs pushed to the back of your brain.!
