I think I read somewhere that the issues of campaigns so far were on cars built before March 2012. Mine was built in January, sigh.

Just got an update from Circle Porsche. They are finishing the seal campaign and they did not need to send it to the body shop. That sounds like a win! Unfortunately, they are stuck on the AC campaign. They are waiting for a specific O-ring and apparently there are none available in the US. It is on order from Germany with an ETA of 10/8. Although I'm not pleased about the delay, I'd rather they take their time and do it right. I'm keeping the Panamera loaner until then as that was their preference too.

Update: the AC pipes are fixed and the car goes to the body shop tomorrow with an instruction manual from the factory, a box of replacement parts and a small amount of paint. I am afraid to ask. So much for three days- now its likely Tuesday= e.g., 8 days.

My service lead referred to the AC job as open heart surgery and that I don't want to see it.

They did a good job and also fixed a few PCM creaks. Loaned a panamera 2s.

A service writer at the Auto Gallery in LA used the term "campaign" to describe the procedure used to silence an annoying rattle that had developed on my ED 991 soon after it was redelivered in the states. Since the rattle was coming from the headliner area, I was concerned that it might be caused by the glass s/r, and somehow be related to the suspension of that option. The campaign involved fully lubricating all s/r's--glass or metal--for which the customer complained about a rattle.

Turns out that in my case, the rattle had nothing to do with the s/r per se. Rather it was due to the fact that the headliner fasteners were not properly insulated from plastic to metal contact. Insulating tape was installed at all fastening points, and now the car is as quiet as a vault...unless the tires transmit road noise on certain surfaces at speed. But that's another matter.

Anyway, Porsche had the tech doculment the headliner repair with photos, so it may be the subject a future campaign.

it's disappointing for Porsche's signature car to have so many problems that need fixing.

It's normal for the first couple of batches of a new generation/model's first year.

My first Porsche was a 2012 Cayman. The last year for the 987 and no issues. I was expecting some issues with my new 991S but not so many. Oh well, if you gotta have new and improved when it first comes out......

as far as I know, my early build 981 has no open campaigns .. yet !

Funny, my advisor said the same thing, and today is the fifth day of my car in the shop. He sent some pictures over to me:

My car is now due back tomorrow. If that happens it will have been two full weeks in the shop(s). It took a longer time than expected to remove and replace the AC lines to cure the leaks they found, led to a schedulaing delay at the body shop where they (I am told) disassembled much of the front bodywork to fix a variety of seals). I certainly don't want them to rush the job. Particularly as they gave me a Panorama yesterday to shut me up. WHAT A CAR!

Took my car for the 10k oil change yesterday. My dealer is great but the oil change is now $350 instead of the 997s' $265, and the total 10k service is $550 to $600! My only problem was a rattle on the sunroof, but they need to replace ac lines, re-software something on the PDK, and something else (I forget what).

All said, the dealer just called and they're keeping it for the weekend. It's going to be a nice weekend and I'm stuck with a Panamera 4. I hate not having the 911 on weekends.

As a follow up, dealer had my car for about a week (seals, ac lines various reprogramming).

Got my car back after two weeks. The work appears to have been done right- I can detect no difference from when it went in other than the smell of fresh rubber in the front trunk compartment. I understand that O rings were replaced at both ends of the AC system, and some controller software was updated.
