991 Turbo To Start Production In 2014
According to Porsche's CEO Matthias Müeller
"Do you have a timeline for the return of the 911 Turbo?
MM: It will start production in 2014."

Probably as a 2014 model.

Yeah I only posted this (as others already speculated it would be 2014) because this was the first "official" word I had seen on the internet (where EVERYTHING can be trusted)...

Take Matthias Müeller's statements with a grain of salt!
In my years of following CEO's of Porsche (starting with Dr. Ernst Fuhrmann in the 1970's), I have found Matthias to be the most 'unreliable' for getting his facts straight. To the point I don't really believe anymore anything he says. Not too long ago, he told us that the 991 gt3 would remain manual and not be offered with a PDK.

Apparently he misspoke. We were able to set the record straight at Rennsport IV last October:

If he is talking 2014 re: the upcoming 991 Turbo, he probably meant to say MY2014 which in reality means sometime in 2013. But that is the kind of carelessness and imprecision in statements that seems to be Matthias trademark! It is also quite surprising, and alarming, to find it on the CEO of an automotive & engineering enterprise like Porsche! He is also a particularly lousy public speaker. At official functions we have seen him in the past years (e.g. introduction of the Cayman R and 991 models in major auto shows), he has been both inarticulate & uninspiring, a deadly combination for a CEO!
It would not surprise me if soon we see him 'transferred' back to some other VW position (perhaps in a remote Skoda, I hope!) and we get someone like Detlev Von Platen (CEO of PCNA who is a Frenchman) or someone like him to replace Herr Müeller at this important & highly visible position at Porsche!

All-wheel steering
"German publication AutoBild is reporting that the upcoming 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo, already set to be a technical tour de force, will offer all-wheel steering to go with standard all-wheel drive. Porsche hopes to increase the outright handling ability of the 991 Turbo via four-wheel steering, though no mention is made as to how the system will operate.
The new steering system is likely to join higher levels of power and performance, for an altogether more competent super 911 from the sports car company. We've already reported on rumors that the new Turbo could be outputting something like 550 horsepower from its force-fed 3.8-liter boxer six. That engine will supposedly be fitted with three turbochargers, too. Expect acceleration from 0 to 62 miles per hour to happen in close to 3.3 seconds, and for the top speed to touch 196 mph.
It'll be a year or so before Porsche debuts its new Turbo, with the first cars expected to make an appearance next spring as 2014 models."

saw this in a Swiss petrol station last week:
there were 2 ..
they accelerated hard as they left on the road joining the motorway .. it shrieked and sounded glorious. very different to 997 turbos.
check out the AMG style exhaust pipes.
