full hood clear bra issue
I finally took home my 2013 991 today will post pics later but i have a question... i had clear bra installed at dealer on full front including entire hood. I noticed on the hood only the look of the clear plastic looks kind of wavy when looking at it on an angle. Its pretty noticeable, hard to describe but almost looks like paint brush strokes thru out the hood from one side to the other. I'll try to post pics. The only thing i can think of is the thickness of the plastic film on the hood is thicker than the front bumpber where i dont see any of this. Anyone else who has clear bra on hood see similar. I am very disappointed in the way it came out. My car is black i thought perhaps the black shows imperfections, but this is ridiculous. Any help on this greatly appreciated. -Joe

Thx guys taking it back this week, will post pics soon. Traded in my Audi S5 and i have to say this 991 is just spectacular all around. Had a 993 C4 Cab for about 10yrs and this just blows it away, it drives like nothing else i've owned, tight, i have the 7spd manual and shifts are crisp and comfortable. The whole driving experience is awesome. Anyway i hope when they redo the hood bra again they dont ruin anything.

Yah. I have a clear bra installed on my black 991 as well. No waves but it will show some imperfections. But it shouldnt be that obvious. What they tell you to do is put the car outside in the sun and it should mold better to the paint. Looking forward to seeing pics

Do you know which film they used? 3M, Ventureshield, Expel, or other brands?
What you are describing sounds like extrusion lines coming out of the mould or roller during manufacturing phase or poor storage practice, a good film properly applied by a skilled technician should not show the pattern you described.
As well, was the edge of the film tucked under the edge of sheet metal in your installation? It should be to avoid the edge of the film being visible and catch wax residue to give away that there is clear bra installed, my full frond wrap was done with the film edges tucked and rolled under every sheet metal edge so it's 99.9% invisible and the film will also protect the edge of the sheet metal panel. I saw a new McLaren with "full" front end wrap yesterday and it was NOT done this way, I was not impressed especially given how much the owner would have paid the local high-end shop to do this work!

If you can snap up a few photos, perhaps, we would be able to assist.

Ok let me see if i get this pic upload correct. I'll attach a crude shot from inside my garage with the reflection of the overhead light. Not sure if its going to come out clearly enough to see as its from my iphone 4S and a bit grainy.
