Default 991S versus f430 spider

Well here it goes. A friend of mine has an f430 spider and I am happy to report that from a rolling start my spectacular manual transmission 991S is a bit quicker. First gear we were pretty much equal, but as soon as I dropped it in second i jumped half a car length ahead of him. Third gear still ahead and very very slowly pulling away. thats as far as we took it. So there you go......

The 430 should be a little quicker than the 991S, even the PDK.
Close to 500 horses and quoted 0-60 times of 4.0 seconds or so.
Perhaps some of the Italian horses where on strike or did not show up for work ? Happens with those Italiens you know...

They're at home waiting on the bailout.

yeah, 430 should beat 991... he isn't driving it properly..

458 would kill 991 and thats a better comparison of two "current" vehicles.

As others state, likely a 'driving skill' issue. F-car is unbelievable.

Enjoy the 991 though - our Porsches are hard to beat for all around permagrin.

Can't drive those F-cars thousands of miles a year. Well, you can, but no one does.

Hard to believe "driving skill" ever comes into play in a drag race. But then again, the car price/driver skill ratio is usually inversely proportional, so I guess it makes sense...

I'd have to disagree with that. It takes a lot of practice to launch well, and to get ultra fast shifts. Of course, this was from a rolling start, and the PDK takes the above out of the equation.

I have a friend who used to drive his F360 as a DD, but stopped when the engine bay spontaneously combusted and burst into flames. In fact, I have two friends who have managed to light their Ferrari's on fire without any sort of abuse.

F430 is 480HP, "should" beat 991S on paper. Interesting result!
