Default material?

Hi guys,

seriously considering a glass sunroof on my C4S order (agate grey / platinum wheels).

But one question though: the panels "before" and "after" the retractable part of the roof, are those also in glass? Or is it painted metal?

thanks!

My understanding is that it's black painted metal.

+1. If they are the same as those on my 2013 991 C2S with glass s/r, then they are black painted metal.

I asked Porsche Exclusive whether they would paint these parts in exterior colour, they refused.

On a dark car like my DBM, the visual impact of painting the parts in the exterior color would be minimal. OTOH, on a lighter colored car, eg, silver, white, or yellow, the effect would be dramatic. Personally, I'd prefer the parts in black to match the heavily tinted glass.

I was looking at white with glass roof, and I would much prefer only the glass in black.

Just got confirmation that the roof is on back order and there is no ETA when it will be allowed to be ordered again.

bizarre then that Porsche talks about the "introduction" of the glass roof in the AWD press release.

I can see the attraction of the glass roof but I did not like the accompanying sliding interior roof panel as opposed to the fully integrated alcantara headlining with the metal sunroof. For this reason I chose the metal sunroof as when it's closed you can barely tell its there.
