Not sure about the Targa. My 2019 C4S was 5 mos. -- nothing that complex, rear wheel steering, rear wiper, crests on headrests, folding mirrors, etc., all standard options.

At the Porsche factory tour in Stuttgart they confirmed this. And exclusive options are not installed at time of build. Rather the car goes to a different group after production line completion to be disassembled and have the correct options installed.

Jack: Werks is talking about the Paint to Sample Option -
not CXX. Are you saying that in the Zuffenhausen factory
tour you heard that PTS for most models (excluding 918,
chromoflair paint option & cars ordered with exposed
carbon fiber panels which are done at separate paint
facility) are NOT being done at the nearby paint facility
located behind the original Werk I building at Zuffenhausen?
Please clarify because many of us believe that PTS on
models assembled at Zuffenhausen (minus exceptions
I have previously listed above) are indeed painted in-house
at their state-of-the-art paint facilities and NOT by an outside
vendor!

CXX options have been always done after production is
finished & the car is brought into the 'Exclusive Manufaktur'
workshop. The Exclusive workers are factory employees
for the most part. There are few reps from some vendors
(e.g. radio supplier/vendor) to make sure that it all works
properly after certain CXX options are done around the
trim of those audio tech parts. But otherwise it's factory
workers, albeit that specialized in these CXX matters,
that are doing the installations.

Default Truth in PTS

What are the 'facts' you know, who told you those 'facts' and how do we verify those
'facts'?

The object of this thread, and similar ones I have started since 2011 at Rennlist, is to get
to the truth regarding the many myths and stories often heard on PTS & custom ordering
via 'Exclusive Manufaktur'. PAG is changing procedures & methods all the time. But we
also know that PAG has invested heavily in their paint center at Zuffenhausen & has the
capability of continuing to do PTS there 'in-house'.

https://www.porsche.com/usa/aboutpor...&id=2011-09-19

In the past, most of the PTS to the shell of a Porsche (e.g. 991) has been done 'in-house'.
For a while now various subcontractors have been responsible for painting some of the
parts that are assembled into a modern Porsche. That has ranged from painted wheels
& front gt bumpers on some models to the many individualized CXX parts that have been
requested in a matching to exterior color.

This does not negate the fact that the metal body of the Porsche (e.g. 991/992) has been
painted PTS 'in-house' in Zuffenhausen at the paint facility behind Werk I. We have also
mentioned on these threads the exceptions to 'in-house' painting when it involves limited
production models that required special, time-consuming labor. For example those painted
shells with:

a) exposed carbon fiber on the exterior (e.g. Turbo S Exclusive Series in 'Golden Yellow Metallic'

b) color stripes that need to be painted (not normal vinyl) on surface (e.g. Done on some 911Rs by special request).

c) Dual or multi colored painted shell on a model (e.g. Some of the special PTS work done on the 918).

https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...r-stories.html

d) Chromaflair special paints (e.g. offered on a few 991.2 911 Turbo S)

e) 918 panels in past production at Zuffenhausen.

If something dramatically has change & you (or any other Rennlister) know that ALL PTS for the
992 or any other model built by PAG in Zuffenhausen is no longer done 'in-house' at Zuffenhausen
by PAG itself, please let us know the sources for that new information. That is all we ask. Thank you.

You can get deviated console lid through this company, not sure if they would make a lid with Crest embossed..?

I hope so. I have had a reservation with deposit since 2017 at my dealer in Colorado.
I am #2 on list. So far that dealer has NOT received any 718 Spyder allocations due
to the delay in scheduling production of US spec cars at PAG. That is supposed to
change later this Spring & deliveries should start sometime this summer (?)...or so
is the buzz.

My understanding is that there is no PTS or CXX allowed by PAG on this model.
Another reason why I am starting to 'sour' on Porsche. As many of you know, PAG
has totally mismanaged PTS ever since folks like us here in Rennlist helped build
up demand for this once rarely ordered option. That was the case with PTS from
the 356 to the 997 era...where there was hardly demand for the option. At the
beginning of the 991, we broke the unspoken 'PTS code' & started explaining to
enthusiasts how PTS worked & how wonderful it could be to bespoke a Porsche
with a special color.

Then PTS demand shot up thru the roof. Nevertheless PAG never increased
the supply of its limited PTS allocations at Zuffenhausen (and now Osnabrück).
The result of this mismanagement is a marked increase in customer frustration
with a program that has almost tripled in price...yet remains difficult & 'complicated'
to get. Windows close & open. Or close for the season as apparently has been
just announced for the 2020 model year on all Porsche sport cars. No PTS from
the date forward for this model year. Or at least that is what I was told this week
by my dealer in Colorado. One more reason for some folks like me diversified to
other automotive manufacturers that are more responsive to their customer's wishes.
And explains why I now have a 488 Spider.

I’ve been told by Exclusive that CXX is available on 718 models including my Spyder. I think it recently opened up. Submitted some requests and need to explore what I want for custom interior. I was told PTS may be available late this year, factory delays with PTS. Hoping to get to PEC ATL design studio to see more samples than available at dealers here. Tried calling there today, toll free doesn’t work from Canada. Tried PCNA and another number for PEC, couldn’t talk to anybody.

I read the initial posts and don't think I saw an answer. The entire thread is TL;DR and don't think search will help. There's my qualifier to asking.

I am looking into doing CXX interior including the LWB seats. I know the cost of doing custom seats but do I need to tick any other option box other than selecting LWB + CXX fee. For example, would I also select the leather interior option to get CXX seats? Seems like I shouldn't need to because CXX fee allows you to customize entire seat.

Nice to see you pop in, Eduardo! Have you considered changing to the upcoming 718 GTS 4.0? Power top and a wider range of colors (I hope). I'm happy with my current C4 but am eyeing that Cayman 4.0 from afar. But only if i can keep my cab.
