My friends with Ferraris swear by them, and at them. They are in ecstasy about the performance and the image and in agony about the cost of service. Figure 5k a year for routine service, maybe twice that if they do track days.
Its just $$ at an equivalent step up in proportion to performance I guess.
My F430 was about $2000.00 a year. The 458, since 2011, has free routine maintenance for 7 years. It's the initial purchase that's a killer now.
I don't see it like many here do...the Ferrari 458 is in a totally different league....I'd love to have 1 someday if I could afford it. Maintenance on Ferrari and reliability is really good these days...ever since the 360.
Ferrari = air brick. ugly boxy lines. the 911 has stood the test of time over 60 years of one beautiful design. i'd take a 911 over a ferrari any day of the week.

no way! drove another one yesterday... Race Mode in the Rain= TOO MUCH FUN
best car i have ever driven and i've driven quite a few exotics.
White cars seem to be cycling back as a very popular color. It does look good on a 458, which I think is the best looking production Ferrari since the 328. The only thing I don't like is the increasing exterior size.
I have not driven a 458, so I'm interested to get specifics on why you think it is the best you have driven.
Have to admit that Ferrari is a level about Porsche along with Aston Martin, Bentley, Lambo.........Porsche is great value for the money and more versatile as a potential daily driver....the sound the Ferrari makes is so fantastic!!!

before the 458 the Scud was sickest car i've driven, the 458 pulls and pulls and pulls and then when you start to get used to it, cycle into "race" and it's like a whole new car.. i love the cluster/gauges/steering wheel with buttons (i love multifunction buttons on steering) the turn signals are confusing but you get used to it.. the trans setup w/ fixed paddles is perfect for everyday.. starting the car and selecting reverse/drive from park is perfect, the roominess, the seating position and rear view, not trying to be a ferrari fan boy because im not a "star f-er" or "brand f-er"... brand aside, the car handles amazingly, drives amazingly, smooth as butter but firm and great feedback... when the 458 drops below 200, i WILL have one.. no question... just dont like how a 3 year old vehicle has no depreciation yet.
only downside to 458, the exhaust setup is odd and sounds "broken" i would surely change that out.. any throttle and you get massive "drone".

i will when they actually depreciate slightly, right now used is same as new... under 200 is what the car is worth to me.
