sport plus mode on the MT
Can anyone comment on the sport-plus mode button on the manual? It makes sense to me on the PDK controlling the shift points but what does it do for the manual?. Thx

Good question, don't know the answer but would make sense for the MT Sports Plus mode doesn't impact the transmisison operations....prolly just engine mapping and suspension?

There is Sport + on the MT cars. It reduces the amount PSM intervenes, it effects the Anti-lock brakes a bit, raises the engine red line, sharpens the throttle response, tightens up PASM and tightens up the Dyn engine mounts.

I have Sports plus in my MT. I was planning to order a MT without that option but I ended up buying a car off the dealers lot that came with it. I am still during break-in period and cannot really tell what difference Sports Plus makes.

I don't think it sharpens throttle response, but rather gives the illusion of sharper throttle response by shortening the pedal distance for the respective throttle opening.

This whole throtle response illusion is just another gimmick that Porsche uses to get us to spend a bunch of money. PSE is another ilusion to make us think we are going faster. We are all suckers! :-)

All this sounds great, but is this an option you all think is worth the cost to have and i will actually feel? I think it's $1800 option on the MT car. I am putting my option list together before I place order. I'm ordering base w MT full leather, 20inch carrera wheels and some other items i will post later.I will not be tracking the car or pushing it to its limits and use it mostly weekends. Thx for input. -jb

Here is what the manual says about Sport Plus Mode:
-PASM is changed to Chassis Normal or Classic Sport
-PDCC is switched to "Sport" mode
-PDK transmission switches to sporty gear-changing
-Electronic accelerator reacts sooner
-The rpm limiter is "harder" (only in manual selection mode on PDK cars).
-PSM is more "sporty"
-PADM changes to more sporty maps
-PTV changes to more "sporty" maps
-Dynamic cornering lights react more spontaneously
- Sport exhaust system switched to "sound-optimised" mode
-Auto Start/Stop function and gliding mode deactivated.
There you have it: $1,800 worth of "features" to make your car perform like it should have in the first place had it not been purposely 'detuned' by Porsche to entice you to spend some more dough.
