Thanks 'WCE' ..I've done at least 6 of these installs including the Escort SR-1 on my old boxster 's'. My only concern was that window post molding removal where I intend to run my wire up to my Escort 9500i.
P.S. lol,,,i already had the fuse cover off,,,,successfully

I also read that if you did not get the smoking package that there might be an unused power source in the center console that was meant for the cigarette lighter. was thinking of getting my power there....any thoughts?
I think you'll need to check with the service manager at the local dealership to find a circuit that is energized with the ignition, but does not switch off when the engine is "off" because of the auto-stop feature.

If there simply is no such circuit, Valentine 1 offers the "BOB" which is basically an in-line capacitor to feed the radar detector for brief periods in cars with auto-stop.

Engine "off" because of the auto-stop feature does not seem to effect accessories like radio so I'm hoping that's a good sign.

Auto-stop does interrupt power to the 12V outlets.

I can't remember now the exact switched circuit I used in my Cayenne S, but it does in fact shut off with auto stop/start. I haven't gone searching for a new circuit to use since a) I'm not at risk while stopped and my V1 quickly reboots when this happens and b) in my driving, start/stop is pretty much irrelevant and I rarely use it.

It's certainly annoying when I drive around town. Once the car is in the middle of its auto-stop "sweet spot" it will shut the engine at every opportunity.

Anyway, it's tedious to try to hunt for a circuit that's live and doesn't die with auto-stop, so hopefully the service manager can get their sparky to figure it out from the schematics or whatever they have.

How did I miss that?! It's so obvious now you explain it.

Aargh. If I keep making mistakes like this, I'll probably end up trapped in a zoo, forced to live in front of gawking morons or just plain extinct!

Roll Tide! LOL!

I'm also married to an Aggie and both my sons are Aggies.

As to your OP, I have the same problem, but the escort powers itself down after 4 hours of inactivity. I just ignore it. Maybe I have a little Aggie in me after all.

OK, basic question, what wire do i need and what do i need on the end to go into the fusebox/
On my 997.1 i went straight into the mirror dimming, i dont think thats possible on the 991.
can anyone do a remedial/101 step by step including the wire , ends etc?

thanks

Hae you considered using the Blendmount and Invisicord? The blendmount bracket attaches to the mirror stalk and is nice anodize piece that is stealth and will hang the Escort right below the mirror. It has multiple adjustment points so you can get in perfect. I have this set up and have moved it between several new cars. Going to get the same thing for the 991 soon.

Go Texas where did you get the connector you used in the fuse panel? Is that an escort piece or did you get it some where else?

Invisicord looks like it back probes the connector for the self dimming rear view mirror? Is that correct and has anyone used it?
