Bought a 991 from Dealer Inventory
Searched the entire country (online) for a model that had the options/specs I wanted and found it! (otherwise would have ordered but hoped to avoid that for the wait).
Basalt Black Metallic
Leather Interior (two tone Black/Platinum Grey)
Premium Pkg Plus with Adaptive Sports Seats Plus (18 way)
Bose Audio Pkg
PDK
PDCC
Sports Chrono Pkg
Sports Exhaust
Carrera Wheels
Sunroof
Wheel Caps in color
Other add-ons: 3M laminate protection on bumpers, mirrors, headlights, and door sills (see post on this topic for comments), environment protection clear coat.
Read the rants about the sunroof but I'm happy I have it. I chose Black because I love the color but also since it hides the black plastic parts and makes the car look more consistent, if not 'menacing'. Shows the red calipers and rear lights beautifully too IMO. With a Black car wanted a different interior so looked for the two-tone.
Perfectly happy without Power Steering 'plus', can't imagine the car with it- this is already enough. Sports exhaust is a must on the other hand, as is the Sports Chrono pkg. If I had to order a car I might have taken the Sports Wheel with the paddles, but no regrets.
My only rants on the interior are:
1) the fake key - how 'plasticky' and can't understand why they don't just introduce a start/stop button next to the keyhole;
2) the cup holders: I will take the risk of scalding the family jewels before releasing this protruding monstrosity - thankfully it's hidden, but they could have dispensed with the 'cup' logo in the 'aluminum' trim;
3) that hole in the bottom of the door sill meant to catch the door (look at the bottom of the door for this protrusion which is meant to meet and go in this hole). Dealer said it was a 'safety feature' linked to the crash crumple zone...
In the pics you'll notice the only mod I've made which are the clear side markers. Literally a snap to install.
The car is an amazing engineering feat. It's amazing to drive but I dare say it feels a bit over-engineered. But I love it! From my avatar you'll notice I also have a '97 C2S and I have not owned anything in between, so please forgive me for the comment. From a purist to a scientist...
Having said that I read enough about the 991 (and am fortunate enough to now afford one) that I finally took the plunge.
Handles like a razor with options of how to drive it that are simply outstanding ('Normal', Sports, Sports +, etc).
Of course I could not rave about the new ride without some pics so here they are...I'm happy to join the 991 club!

Many had Black on Black or Platinum Grey interiors (leather or standard), and then there were the option combinations. I absolutely wanted the PDCC and Sports Chrono...

Are you keeping the 993?

Yes the 993 is staying for the time being...long story, but it's in storage in Europe (Switzerland to be exact), and I see it about twice a year, taking it on a road trip in the summer...the car was bought in Japan and brought over there...but due to US regulations it could not be imported when I moved here.

Remarkably I found it in Connecticut and I'm based in Manhattan...so only had a short train ride. As I mentioned though...I literally scoured the Porsche website state by state. I never saw another one or similar.

Beautiful, great in black! I'd change the steering wheel to the flappy paddles one. Check suncoast. Then you have a perfect 991!!!

Congrats! At the local launch, the BB was the one I gravitated toward. I like black but worry about the upkeep. The BB might solve a lot of that and the color is intriguing. Cheers.
