Default Buy or wait

Test drove 991 on saturday. Freakin loved it. Question is since the 2012 model year is so short should I wait for the 2013? My dealer has an allocation slot so that if I ordered now my car would come in by the end of may to enjoy the car for the summer.
Then again the ducktail option comes into play for 2013. What to do? Opinions?
Thank you!

I certainly understand all the hype over the new 911, but I had a seasoned Air Force C-130 pilot tell me one time that he "never flies an A-model anything" ('A-model' referring to 'first year production').

I'm not currently planning to buy one, but if I was, I'd wait a year. As good as Porsche is, there will likely be a few glitches the consumers will find that the test drivers and engineers couldn't.

I will let you know after I drive mine for the next year. I doubt there are that many hidden problems.

Not worried about hidden problems, but the 2012 model year does complicate things by including 2 different bodystyles. 2013 would be a clean? year.

IMO, the only reason to wait would be your financial situation or the inability to get some must have option like the ducktail. It's a new model, but there's no revolutionary technology here; DFI, PDK, PDCC, etc etc are all proven. Even the 7sp manual is derived from the PDK box and everyone is using electro-mechanical steering now. New body panels, a stretched wheelbase and new interior bits don't translate to reliability problems.

The duck tail really doesn't do it for me so I would not wait. Hold on....I didn't mine is already on order!

Ducktail is somehow positioned too far back, is my take. Looked much better and true to original on the 997 Sport Classic, IMO.

I bought one of those infamous first model cars-an '05 997. I've had no problems whatsoever in my seven years of ownership. The car doesn't even leak a drop of oil. I've actually had friends with later '07 and '08 models that have had problems. Others may have had different experiences and mine alone might not be a basis to judge all new models, but I would get one without considering the model year.

If you want PTS, I think you have to wait. I'm waiting to see if they really produce a true Targa.
Loved the test drive with the PDK. I'm actually thinking seriously of one for the first time ever. So, I'm also waiting to test drive a manual to compare sensations.
Good luck!

I am leaning towards getting one, but am waiting for the 4wd version with the wider rear fenders hopefully. Also, I prefer the carbon sport buckets and hope they get offered.

Rear view camera for 2013 anyone? And potential to order C4/C4S? ... If you're not in a rush and can wait, do so labor for hours over your perfect build. get it how you want it, especially if you want the ducktail!
