Hey Dan,
What about ride quality? I read over and over in several articles that there is much less sound intrusion, especially from the tires in the new car. Did you find this to be true?

It was impossible for me to comment on sound because of the difference between a cabriolet and a coupe. My brief time with a 997 coupe would not allow a proper comparison.

My take in sum -- ride is very compliant, tire noise is a lot less.

I have some additional thoughts in those two topics in this thread:

Too late, it happened with the 997.

The statement that only 30% of 911s were delivered with manual transmissions is 100% inaccurate, with the number being closer to 70%; what is accurate is that the $4,000+ that Porsche charges for the PDK is a nice profit for them, and they need to amortize the development costs, so they are building ONLY PDK cars for the first 3 months of US 991 production. Take PDK, or in true German fashion, take nothing at all!
The latest version of the PDK in the 991 is a nice improvement over the first generation- but it will never satisfy the real enthusiasts' need for three pedals on the floor!
Porsche will be the last manufacturer to build manual transmissions, and don't expect them to go away soon. Manual 7 speed tranny production begins in March, with the first cars arriving at dealerships in April. The top gear, 7th, is purely an overdrive.

Dan, great photos of Agate. First ones with the white balance true to the color. Must be Nikon . I changed my order to Agate when I saw one at the Rolex 24. About 2/3 Slate Grey and 1/3 Meteor Grey. Great mix.

It's hard to beat Nikon in that department. Agate will be a terrific color.
