I haven't heard the standard or PSE sound on the 991, so I can't compare it to the 997.2 PSE.

However, you can improve the 997.2 PSE sound greatly if you remove the center muffler and replace it with Sharkwerks pipes. It sounds MUCH better with that mod.

Speaking from 991 experience. The Sport Exhaust CRUSHES the standard. Seriously, well worth the money.

YES honestly in comparison to my 09 Carrera with aftermarket side mufflers and center, it sounds way better. Well worth the few bucks. At WOT sounds like my GT3, but crackles and pops on Decel.

It is an expensive option which gives absolutely no performance improvement yet sounds incredible ... I don't like that the default is always in the off position and you need to push a button to get extra sound though there probably will an aftermarket fix for this in the future.

In my E350 (I know it's not a sports car) I have a sport button for the transmission which defaults to non-sport each time the car is shut off. I like driving it in sport mode all the time yet more than 1/2 the time I forget to push the button. I find it super annoying to have to keep pushing the button every time I start the car.

As far as PSE it's like I want that extra sound but it's like I am paying $3,000 for just extra sound which I have to remember to push a button each and every time to use it so in other words I have to remember to push this button about 8 to 10 time a day.

Arghhh decisions decisions ...
I have an E350 also and that drives me crazy. The shift point without S is awful. You have to floor it to get it to downshift. I rarely remember to hit S, and once in a while get myself into a bad situation because the thing can't get out of it's own way without flooring it.

Shift points and reaction time are something Mercedes can really do something about on their sedans ...

Meanwhile I ended up getting the sport exhaust on my 991 so my advice to others ... don't listen to my advice
