Default First pictures of US spec 991

Here are pictures of the US spec Cabriolet from the Detroit Auto Show. I still haven't seen any good pictures of the US spec Coupe.

I think that's a .2 997, not a 991.

It doesn't appear to be letting me change the title, possibly due to my status as "new user." Thanks for the tip, though. I'm surprised that it's so difficult to find pictures of the US spec. 991. Does anyone have real pictures of the front and rear of the US 991? From the Detroit Auto Show pictures of the cabrio, it looks like the warts in back may be gone.

Yes, that was announced over two months ago, but I don't recall the source.

Why does Porsche remove bumperettes from US spec? I am so upset. This is one of the 911's signature and not to mention US only signature.

Bumperettes are finally gone!!!! They were an unfortunate requirement from the DOT for the 997 to pass crash testing. I'm glad that solid German engineering has found a way to pass the crash tests and clean up the car.

But just wait until you get hit in back. Then you'll wish that you had them!

The back end difference is simply the width of the rear plate cutout.

Here's a German spec car to compare to the earlier pics:

That has very little to do with it. A larger reason is that Canadian bumper laws were finally relaxed in 2008. 997.2 was already being rolled out as a 09 model.

Why Porsche didn't make changes, I don't know. There is a fairly substantial ride height difference in NA Spec VW MkV GTI/Rabbits between the 07 and 08 model years that reflect the change in the law.

Somehow I like the German spec rear better. Helps the car look lower and wider in some small way...

I saw the 991 in person today. I don't think you have to worry about the rear of the car. It has a beautiful, wide rear end. Loved it.
