Default R&T PDK Test Car Results

I started a new thread on this as the OP on the other thread had all wrong information. It's a PDK car tested not a manual and numbers are even faster than was stated (he quoted the C&D numbers).

Those 1/4 mile and 0-60 times are seriously quick and a significant improvement over times I've seen previously for a 997.2 S with PDK or even a GTS. Although the 991 is claimed to have only 15HP more than the Carrera S (and 6 HP less than the GTS) it makes me wonder if Porsche isn't being especially conservative with that 400HP rating.

R&T's GTS numbers were: 0-60 3.8s, 0-100 9.0s, ¼mile 12.1@115.4

R&T's C2S numbers were: 0-60 4.1s, 0-100 10.3s, ¼mile 12.6@111.9

I don't have all the specific references at my fingertips. IIRC, C&D tested a PDK S at 3.9 to 60 and mid 12's in the 1/4. This site has an S at 3.8 and 12.4 and a GTS Cab (obviously heavier than a coupe) at 3.9 and 12.3.

The 3.5 and 11.8 of the 991 S is definitely straight-line GT3 (or better) territory.

Probably better gearing with the 7 speed? That's my guess.

The 7spd PDK car that R&T tested above to get those times has the identical gear and final drive ratios as the 7spd PDK in my '09 S. They haven't changed. All due respect, but it's not the gearing.....

Agreed. Plus top speed of 189mph seems to imply more power? I can understand the chassis, PDCC etc., making for fast lap times, but these numbers, if correct, lead me to believe that the 991 has more than 400hp. Power to weight should be identical to GTS. Although it does have more torque.

I can attest to the 991 being MUCH quicker than the 997. Spent three days with the cars and drove them both under heavy driving conditions. The 991 does feel like it had 430 hp. I am sure Porsche is being conservative. By the way. If you have ANY reservations about the new car. Dont. It will redefine the segment. The car is amazing. I have been around since the 964 cars were being sold, then the 993 rolled out. I was sad when we got the 996. Happier when the 997 rolled out. Now amazed with the 991. In every sense. Steering was amazing.
