Call me cynical, and I'm the minority here, but honestly there is no real difference with sport exhaust, atleast not an appreciable difference to justify $3,000. You blip the throttle, rev it up high, or drive it at speed, and yeah you can hear a difference. But don't expect to be blown away by it. It's subtle, and definitely not worth $3,000.

Not sure what exhaust you heard or are talking about, but I totally disagree with your comment. With every 911 version of PSE I have heard, the difference in sound is MUCH more than subtle.

997 S, and most recently 997 GTS Cab (test drive). I just wasn't impressed with the PSE option. I stepped on it several times, turned it on, then off again, and while I can hear the difference, my impression was the same as the last time I drove one with PSE, which was "yeah, I hear the difference, but the sound is subtle, over-rated, and definitely not worth $2,900". The sound is more noticeable when you're a pedestrian than a driver, I think.

+1. Hard to know what any given person is going to expect from PSE, but still IMO you're absolutely right Tim, the difference is very noticeable and more importantly, worthwhile.

I'd also be wary of reading across the 997 PSE experience to the 991....basis the myriad of reviews...seems the next gen PSE has rather upt the aural ante...

At that price it is a must have - one of the options many regret NOT getting after.

I have had it on the last 2 of my 5 porsches, it is the one option that I will always have on all future sports cars....I cannot say that about any other option.

PSE is a must. I had it on 07 2S, and does not on my current 09 2S, and I miss the glorious sound of PSE.

I've heard it in person, and the PSE sounds spectacular. Very very exotic sounding. Engaging the PSE lowers the exhaust note/tone at idle to a hostile deep sounding lope, and when you rev it, the note quickly climbs to a feverish pitch... the closest thing I could compare it to would be a Ferrari with tubi...but is still a very distinctive Porsche sound....just more exotic.

I have the 991 with PSE. It sounds amazing, perfectly tuned. ZERO DRONE. SEX at WOT. I would never order a 911 without it again. Will be great on your cab.
