Default Sport Exhaust

Have a 991 Cab order placed....still have time to make changes.

Basically loaded it up, but left out sport exhaust and now having second thoughts.....looking for input .... is sport exhaust worth it?

Currently have a 997 Turbo and Cayenne S ('09) and traded a Boxster S ('10) in on the 991....none of the other Porsches have sport exhaust therefore not acquainted with the option, but thinking with a Cab, it might be worth it.

Appreciate any comments.

I heard the 991 sport exhaust in person a few days ago. It sounds fantastic!! It is louder than the 997 was w/ sport exhaust and has a rasp to it in the upper revs that is not found on the 997. Porsche has tuned the exhaust along with a "sound symposer" for the interior in order to channel some engine note in to the cabin. Combined with sport exhaust, it is great! If you like to hear the sound of a mean, tunned engine, than you will love every minute of it.

When I test drove a 997.2 cab "roof up" I found it noisy, to much road drone & that the car needed surpressing not enhancing. Maybe the 991 differs, but it might be just loud enough .

Is it a 991s? You may not needed if it's a S model. I have the same dilemma. I will wait to see and hear the 991 cab before I place my order.

yes it is a 991 Cab S.....white over black....basically loaded with all the options but PSE...looking for advice. Ordinarily I would pass on it if the car were a coup, but given the cab aspect, thought it might be a consideration.

I would get the PSE. The sounds you'll hear from a Cab will be amazing. Plus you've already spend so much on the car, 3000 bucks wouldn't make too much difference. You don't want to have any regrets.
Congrats on your purchase. May I ask if you got any discounts or it's still Msrp? Also when is your build date? How much deposit your dealer required. Thinking about purchasing my in late spring. Thanks in advance.

pg103.....thanks for your input/comments. As for your questions, I have failed to mention this is a car for my wife. She drive a Cayenne S most of the time, but also drives a 2010 Boxter S with 6K on it thatwe traded in on the new 991 for her. They gave us $50K for the Boxter and we ar epaying MSRP. We left $5K of the $50K as a deposit. Expct to see the car around May 1st.

Get PSE. If you want to cruise with the top down and without the increased exhaust sound, you can always turn it back to "normal" (quiet) mode with the push of a button. Best of both worlds!

Does she want it? Seems like the most important question, at least where I live.

Congrats! Great color combo, IMO.

I have it. Definitely makes it a sports car.

Agree with keadog, ur wife would have to say if she likes engine noise.

Would you mind sharing ur build details and price? I have been working the configurator and always end up with very big $$$.

I have been told that the stock exhaust is incredibly good on the 991. The 991s I have heard--I didn't know if the PSE was activated or not.

Since you have a cab on order the sound is extremely important. Try to get the dealer to commit to you what any difference there is. They should be able to know this by now.

I would get it, it sounds glorious, much more refined than the 997 PSE.
The standard "Sound Symposer" (as Porsche calls it) does bring a bit more induction noise in the cabin, but the exhaust element, especially on the overrun, gives a lot of charm to the car.

The only good thing about PSE is that it should be available later as a Tequipment option, but in a loaded config, it makes a ton of sense to tick the mark.

No matter how good the stock 991 exhaust sounds, how could the PSE not just be more of a good thing. I have PSE on my Carrera and Cayenne; definitely check that box.

Edit:
Click this link to the Porsche Web Special on the 991. After it loads, click on the Carrera Coupe and when the "Discover" and "Driving" tabs show up, roll over the driving tab. One of the choices below this tab is "engine sound" with a comparison between the 991 stock and PSE exhaust note. Like I said above, go with the PSE.
