31 mph is a lot higher than I thought when ordered.

What are chances one can have service disable it, if not to liking?

Seems that ought to be a computer hookup type of thing?

I have it on mine. You don't notice it when driving the car. Steering feels great a little less nervous than my turbo but great feel.

I did not see this mentioned yet but in the latest Excellence, August Auchleitner is quoted saying that Power Steering Plus is for comfort and that enthusiast drivers would probably prefer the normal Power Steering. The article is a pretty good article about the development of the new 991.

Yes, saw that Auchleitner line and started obsessing about my order, which is why I am dying to find out if it can be disabled, in which case no harm.

Any thoughts on how it might play with the new steering?
It's great I have it in my Fiat 500.

Nope, a 1.4L Sport. Great little car and I crash tested it last year, but I digress.

Being a city car, its owners (42kg females mostly) praise the car's steering for its lightness in parking maneuvers and find that it suits them perfectly when parking down town.

Such a function in a 911 is unnecessary and out of place. One the other hand, and since the crime of installing this type of electric steering was committed in the name of consumption (actually it's in the name of idiot-proof driving-aids), one more button or one more function make no difference.

I just cancelled option 658 in my order. Lucky it was still unlocked. I dont want it to feel like a cadillac at the parking lot or at low speed under 30mph.May be my wife would miss it...

Smart move. The part I disliked the most was the assist increasing as I slowed to make a tight turn. There is nothing worse than the steering feel changing as you are thinking about making the turn.

I can't imagine that it's helpful...i don't have it on my 991 and don't need it...I do have an MGB and it would be real helpful for that car to park that little beast (before new paint and two after paint)

Out of curiosity, I asked my local Porsche Center if they could disable the "Plus" portion. The answer came back no. This seems weird to me as it is just software options, no?

Agree. I have it and it doesnt impact ride at higher speeds. Just makes turning the wheel easier at very low speeds. No biggie. Cheap option and for what it does, its worth it.
