Default Ugly: "Porsche" brand name displayed on rear deck

Porsche has started to put the name "Porsche" on the rear of its cars. It's already on the Cayenne and the Panamera, and it's also on the new 991. This just makes the rear of the car even busier looking than when only the model badge (i.e." Carrera") was displayed. Moreover, none of the other German makers (BMW, Mercedes, Audi or even Volkswagen) display their brand name, only an insignia (like the Porsche seal on the front hood). I wonder why the sudden urge to display the Porsche brand?

Why do people post the exact same question with different titles under 2 different threads? See my reply to your question in the 997 thread.

Would you prefer Porsche to display the "insignia" in the rear instead of "P O R S C H E"?

Vintage Porsches had this scripting on the rear a long time ago.
I think it looks okay.
But I'm sure you can pay Porsche to delete it.

The script is a no-cost delete option.

And it's there because no one can tell it's a Porsche anymore...

I would hate it if the crest was on the engine lid. I don't know why, but I feel it would look ridiculous.

I would like 911 plastered all over the car like the GT3. My friends have a hard time distinguishing it from a VW.

+100 It's a simple fix. People need to find something meaningful to complain about, FCOL.

I for one like the letters. Understated elegance.

This is a topic of discussion? Porsche offers a no charge delete option. With Porsche you can have almost anything you want. So those that don't like what Porsche has decided can choose something else or nothing at all. What is the issue?

Cheers,
