This is absolutely the worst place to increase weight.
I agree that an increase in unsprung is a bad thing. However, there seems to be a wide weight range for the various Porsche wheels. I was very surprised at how heavy the Classic Sport wheels weigh.

There seems to be quite a bit of fat to be trimmed. If you can get 19" forged wheels that meet new JWL standards in wider widths at less than 22lbs, 24lbs for 20" should certainly be possible. That's still lighter than some/most Porsche 19"ers, no?

And yet it's overall performance is better..... And being it's a completely new model, it's not an increase. It's the way it's individual design has been configured with an overall weight improvement.
Therefore I struggle to see any "significant weight penalty vs it's 997 siblings" as a valid argument.

I say get the manual 7 speed - you will might regret the PDK no matter how awesome the technology may be. When I sold my 05 Subaru WRX STi I got a Infiniti G37S with AUTO, and I was bored driving it after 2 years and traded it in for my 04 996 40th Anniversary Edition.

Just my opinion - get what makes YOU happy.

The boss (my wife - who is also the CFO at my company) gave me the go ahead to order a new 911. The one that I was ordering was a GT3 or GT3 RS. Guess what Porsche does not build anymore? For financial reasons I have to have the car delivered next April or May. So after many debates, in my head, I have decided to order the new 991. Especially now that you can order a duck tail with an aggressive nose.

So I would get the duck tail - gets back to the classic 911 - the long hood.

if you don't add Sports Chrono, you're going to hate yourself in the morning... 'nuff said.
