991 Targa
So I thought I heard back several weeks that the 991 Targa may be like the past targas. Anyone no anything pertaining to the targa? Is it going to be the same as it currently is?
Thanks,

It would almost seem like the glass sunroof on the coupe version was meant to incorporate the same glass roof concept of the 997 Targa, perhaps in a more limited fashion. That would make sense- I've heard no shortage of ppl liking the glass roof, but opting instead for the relative rigidity of a coupe.
Just a guess...

I read on another forum that the new Targa would be 'old school' with removeable top. The article also talked about a Clubsport version and Speedster as well. I am looking forward to seeing the new Targa!

If so, I hope they don't leak like the old Targas. I had a 1984 Targa that leaked like a sieve. Never could get the top adjusted to stop the leaks. I am sure the engineering will be better on the new one if they go that route.

Given the entirely new roof of the 991 and the new sliding sunroof option which is supposed to be available in glass also (although it still seems to be a mailslot on the inside), it would make sense for Porsche to have a new design for the targa.
Hope they come up with a better solutiion than some of the roadsters out there, like that Lambo Murci contraption!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict the extinction of the 911 Targa. With the new sun roof being targa-esque and the fact that they are now charging $1490 for it, they stand to make a lot more profit selling sun roofs than they would selling Targas. They didn't sell very many of those.
