Default Could they be pulling the 991 launch forward?

I got an email from my dealer today showing a 15k discount on a 2010 C2S. I can't imagine that they would be doing this if they didn't have something coming out very quickly. I know that the 2011 model comes out in August but 15 grand discount BEFORE you negotiate anything feels like a lot - I'd be surprised if I couldn't get to near 25K discount... So I'm wondering if they will release the 991 very soon. What do you think?

With current sales numbers, it wouldn't surprise me... definitely not their original plan, but if sales continue at this pace, they may bump the release (pending all is good with 991) to create some buzz.

From memory, I believe that the 964 was on sale from 89 to 94 (6 years), the 993 from 94 to 98 (5 years), the 996 from 99 to 2004 (6 years) and if the 997 went out in 2012 it would be 8 years!!!! I have to think that they will release it earlier

If you wait for "the next best thing" from Porsche you'll always be waiting.

How much different do you think it will be from the 997.2? If history repeats itself not much. I guess we will see. Should be an evolution not revolution, no matter what Porsche marketing tells us!

Quite a bit I think. I like to get at least 3 years from my cars so I wouldn't want to buy a model that is semi obsolete 12 months later... no matter what deal I got.
I've bought "older technology" and regretted it a few times... I have examples

Well, if you count from 2005 (US release), then 2012 be 7 years, and I THINK Porsche considers 997.2 a new model, so that's be 3 years if they released 991 in 2012!

I doubt very seriously if it will change as much as everyone thinks. It will be little different cosmetically and preform better no doubt. The car all in all will always be similar if its a 911. Me I am too impatient to wait any longer. I will just keep turbo s until something gets so much better I cant stand it maybe in 6 or 7 years or so
