Default Threaded shift **** conversion Numeric Shifter 991

Hey all!

Wanted to make a post as the parts arrive so I can share with everyone.

I originally made a threaded shift **** conversion for the 997 platform when I had one (https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...onversion.html) and thought, well why can't I do the same for the 991?

Originally I was using a threaded shift **** adapter off of my F80 M3 because it fit rather well, however, due to the large thread size, there is only a handful of shift ***** that work.

If you are looking for a simple shift ****, know that the Lathewerks shifter for BMW's works on 991 ( https://www.lathewerks.com/bmw-stain...hift-****.html)

Me being a OG Honda fan boy, gave me the idea to convert the semi threaded rod that comes on the Numeric Shifter, to a fully threaded M10x1.5 thread pitch so we can fit some cool *****. Hell might even throw on a Skunk2 shift **** like on my EG hatchback HAHA.

Anyways, TLDR. Making a threaded rod adapter that will screw directly into the Numeric Shifter, thus leaving a M10x1.5 Thread pitch rod so you can use any shift **** you'd like. I am awaiting my Circuit Hero Tear drop shift **** which I used on my S2000, 997 and now the 991.2

Will post pics as soon as it arrives!

Alright guys, as promised here are the photos of the unit installed in the car. Came out exactly how I wanted.

Parts needed:

(1) M12x1.75 to M10x1.5 threaded steel insert
(1) M10x1.5 x 100mm threaded rod
(1) M10x1.5 x 30mm
(1) M10x1.5 Shift **** of your choice
Optional M10x1.5 shift boot retainer to zip tie your shift boot

Installed ( don't mind the filth!)

Thanks for sharing this info. Will this work the OEM shifter? Or only Numeric?

Unfortunately will only work on the Numeric shifter as it has threaded rod originally

ahhh so that smooth pipe looking part is essentially a coupler between the Numeric threaded portion and that threaded rod?

Correct, it’s just a threaded sleeve so that the threads aren’t exposed but at the same time adds more rigidity to the set up.

The size in the link is incorrect though, I had luck through Amazon and was even on prime

Getting this close to final form. Added a sheet on the inside of the shifter to leave the numeric exposed. Plan to wrap the whole shifter trim and sheet in Alcantara for a finished look

Right? Such a nice expensive piece to be hidden. This project turned out a lot better than I expected. I'm happy with the result and its always 100% reversible!

Shifter looks great! Quick question on a side note… I like that phone holder/charger. Is it magnetic and any issues with draining down the battery as it’s always plugged into the lighter plug?
Thanks
