I own a 991.1 Targa 4 GTS 7MT. I am sometimes thinking whether I should add a 991.2 GT3 Touring, that would be the perfect three 911 garage with my 993 C2 coupe 6MT (992 Touring would be awesome but out of budget). I recently took the 991 on moutain roads and kept driving from A to A for 7 hours : driving with open roof when the engine sound bounces off the mountain side while bathing in the sun is an incredible experience. The more I manage to master driving this car, the better it gets. What a great car : sound, steering, everything is very good. Probably not as sharp steering as a GT3, not the same screaming engine but plenty enough for me. Never driven a GT3 though. The GTS is a well judged balance between sport and luxury. I am not sure if adding a Touring would make such a big step compared to my GTS (both are NA and MT) that would justify the cost - I would need to drive a Touring to figure it out but that might ruin the GTS for me - sometimes, ignorance is bliss.

The 992 GT3 is totally different than your GTS (which is also a fantastic car!). It's a little lighter, geared differently, sounds fantastic, high rpm, turn in is much improved over the previous GT3 and it handles like a mid-engine IMO. But it is jarring to drive also. I rarely have my wife in this car but yesterday, she said this car accentuates everything relative to my 991.2 C4. She said it in a bad way. Louder, raspier, jolting, feeling every bump, acceleration, braking......in other words awesome for me. lol.

If you are getting attention in your GTS, driving a winged Shark Blue is like an eyeball magnet for car guys. A more toned down color and Touring will probably be more comparable to your GTS as far as the thumbs up factor from strangers.

You can see in my signature some of the cars that I have in the garage currently and what is coming in. I've driven about 7 Porsches on the track also. Everyone has opinions of course but I'd get the GT3 if I were you and could afford it.

Since dealers aren't in the mood to throw you the keys you can always take a field trip to PEC in ATL or LA and sample one (or many) there.

Side note I did do PEC a year and a half ago and while the 992 is nice, I couldn't find 50-100k in additional value in the car at least among the carerra variants.

I am sure the 992 is a bit faster on a track in the hands of the right person. Aside from all the crap I was dealing with personally, on the car front I left not yearning for the new model having 991.2 in hand and fully paid off.

I also have the title - never had a note on this thing since I figured I should not make payments on something that’s not a daily driver.

So - yes, I would cut a check for the difference for the “step up” but it would be a lot liquid savings that I have been building for other investments (property).

I drove again this weekend and really need to try a GT3 in town to feel the difference.

After reading the comments - most are right that it’s impossible to really enjoy a Porsche on the street. However, the start up - 20-65mph rips and that turn and look back feeling is hard to replace. I figure I would have it more with the “new-new” but would need to add some upgrades to make it my own.

Maybe the consensus is right (so is my wife) - this is all you need if it still puts a smile on your face after taking it for a run on the weekend.

Buy a Thinkdiag and code in GT3 steering on your GTS. It actually makes a huge difference.

I agree with the DeMan 4.5 L upgrade. Your car would generate 550 hp, ballpark. I have considered it for my own 991.1 GTS (but I have not pulled the trigger yet). I have a GT3 Touring (991.2) but I kept my GTS and I am glad that I did, as it has its own merits that the Touring cannot match (in my case, a cabriolet, for one).

That change alone has made me never regret cancelling my 992 order.

.2 Turbo S Start at 580 and you can go bananas from there, Low mileage CPOd 18s and 19s can be had for 160s ish or 100k under 992. I made that move because I believed it was the best value/HP in the line.
