Default 12 year service cost?

Hello,

I have a 2012.5 991.1 and have been servicing annually at the dealer with oil changes and I've kept up with services. Now, my car needs to go in to repair the washer fluid line and they said that I'm due for a "12 year service" which sounds suspicious. Apparently it includes oil and filter change, 2 pollen filters, cleaning out of all water drains, 2 engine air filters, spark plugs, brake flush, belt, manual trans fluid 1100tu for $3,025. I was just going to do the oil change and the washer line repair. Am I being fleeced or is this something I should have done at my cars age. Any help appreciated.

everything you listed falls under the 2, 4, 6, and 12 year maintenance intervals, all of which happen at year 12.

generally speaking, maintenance items should be addressed at their appropriate mileage or time interval, whichever comes first.

what is suspicious?

oh, what sticks out to me is that you're going to a dealership for maintenance items on a 12 year old car.

stop that.

go to an indy.

😂 +1, What so suspicious about it. All of those needed to be addressed already if not really soon if you haven't done any of them. You don't want your belt to snap midway

Not suspicious and not out of line for dealer cost. Cost about 1/3 less at an indy. Ask them to throw in the washer fluid line repair.

Oh good grief ... find a good independent!

How about total mileage? Mileage per year?

Its a reasonable charge. You might consider replacing 6 coils at same time. Labor woukd be zero as they must be removed to remove the spark plugs. Each coil is about $100 or so. Why: occasionally a coil ages , then cracks. Causing a miss fire. Headache as car might be able to limp into shop for service. Mine couldnt, thus had to be “towed”.

all the best in your decision.

It is utterly unreasonable to charge that much.

BTW, I did not see mention of replacing the coils ...

that's because coils are not a maintenance item, despite how much y'all really want them to be. :P

You can probably save a little by doing some of the easy stuff, like the pollen filters, lol

I do all this maintenance myself. Parts for everything listed is about $520. For me, I could do it in about 10 hours which is probably much longer than a tech. That's about $250 an hour in labor that I am saving for my 10 hours of work. I have three Porsches and saved enough money just over three years to pay for my lift twice over.

Default The cost should be roughly

$1200 for the items listed below. find an indy who can do it for that price if you bring OEM parts.

You might say that anytime you are not doing the work yourself. Of course you need the skills and tools.
