Default Any Way To Temp Disable the Car While I'm Away

I'm going to be out of the country for a few weeks, and I was wondering if there's a simple easy way to disable my 991S while I'm away, to prevent theft.

I thought about that, But won't that mess up other systems? And how do I lock the car up if there's no battery? And how do I unlock the car when I get back home?

Manually lock the door with the key that’s inside your key fob.

You don’t have to remove the battery, just disconnect the ground connection.

I miss the good old days ... back in the mid 90s I had a beautiful low mileage 88 3.2 Carrera which was, of course, a 5 speed manual, and a (former) wife who was just terrible at driving stick and a bad driver in general. I had my mechanic install a small kill switch for the fuel pump under the driver's seat, which I would routinely hit when I parked the car. Every so often I would come home from work and my wife would say, "I decided I wanted to take the 911 to the beach today for fun but it wouldn't start again." I would say, "Oh, that's terrible, I'll talk to the mechanic about it."

Lock the car. Put away the key. A few weeks is nothing. More, maybe a tender.

When I removed the negative from my battery (was going to be away for 6 months) it set off the LOUD alarm.

"mess up" is strong wording. you'll need to reindex your windows and seats, sure.

as far as locking/unlocking, the above mentions of manual key usage are your option. are you parking in public?

to be perfectly honest, this entire thread makes it sound like you are being overly paranoid, or you live in an extremely sketchy area.

Do you have a son named Joel who might drive it into Lake Michigan?? ;-)

The car is in a garage I assume … so put a CTEK on it to keep the battery charged … lock it … hide the keys or put them in your safe or put them in your lockbox

Yes, a car thief can saw through it. But chances are they won’t have a saw and they won’t take the trouble.

Probably would cut the steering wheel and just remove the Club.

Easier said than done. Even if they cut off the entire upper half of the wheel it is still virtually impossible to rotate the club off the wheel. You’d have to cut through the 9 and 3oclock positions, and the club would get in the way.

If you disconnect the battery, remember: don’t close the frunk lid.
