Fob battery replacement (grrrr)
I know I have done this before, but this time trying to remove the "key" from the fob to open it and replace the battery is causing a problem
Slide the little thingy over and pull out the key ..right..?
Key will not come out of the fob !!! grrrrr

Sometimes I use a tiny flat-head screwdriver to help it out.

It's annoying the way that square metal tang is designed. It really doesn't allow the emergency key to slide out if there's anything more than the thinnest of key rings attached to it, even then it's close.

It is a very poor design.
You have to depress the little spring-loaded button after removing any key ring. A key ring makes it impossible to remove.
That little button is flush and must be pushed in. The spring underneath the little button is one of tiniest springs I've ever seen, and can easily fall out along with the button. One of mine did and is now button- and spring-less, but still functional without the release button and spring. A key ring keeps it together.
However, once you figure it out, it's pretty easy. If the fob is older, which all 991 fobs are, and the emergency key has been rarely, or ever, removed, it can be stuck in the slot until removed for the first time in a long time.

No, just get rid of the button too, which is worthless without the spring, forget about the spring, and put a key ring back on it, which makes it impossible to slide out, and you're good to go with it.
