This is my first post - so please forgive me if this is a little too verbose. I have a 2016 991.2 C2S, which I purchased second hand a couple of years ago. Had no mods done to it - though may give it a tune one day. Its graphite blue and the previous owner (from new) completely specced it out from a comfort point of view. This is what I wanted - so that gives you a little information on my character and use of the car. Its a daily drive for me. It has full leather, heated 16 way leather memory seats, Burmeister, auto entry, reverse camera, front axle lift, sports exhaust - you get the drift. I have been looking for Porsche decals for the side of the car without a lot of luck. I think the car looks a little too plain as is. I don't like the standard decals. A lot of the decals are very racing oriented, and I hate the font used on a lot of the decals eg the GT3RS. I think the strongest thing going for Porsche is the name and the standard Porsche font they use (besides the cars of course) - so thats essentially what I wanted down the side of the car. Porsche do provide some of these - but they come with stripes etc - and I just don't like them. So I decided to come up with my own. I have the stone guard on the side rears of the car - and I really didn't want to take those off and reapply new ones. The original ones are holding up really well - and as they say - if it ain't broke ... This means I don't have the full length of the car to put the decal on. If I went for about 120cm I could have the decal go full length of the door and about an inch or so beyond the door. This meant the first (or last) letter would just make it and may be split a little between the door and the chassis. That seemed too complicated and fiddly - so I decide it would have to be wholly contained within the door. I also decided on white as I think this goes amazingly with the graphite blue. I have included a couple of low-res photos taken from my iPhone. I would really like to know:
what you guys think - have I ruined the car? does it look try hard? or is it just the best thing? Maybe the lettering is wrong size? etc etc
have you seen any other decals which really suit the Porsches - or have you had any done yourselves?
Thanks in advance - looking forward to your comments - am totally OK with with bad comments - please don't feel I will get offended - I can always get the decals removed if the reaction is bad enough Just want to see what the enthusiasts think. After all that spiel the end result is probably a little underwhelming, but personally I think it gives the car the oomph it deserves
Congrats and welcome to the forum. That's a 2017 (991.2) in the US and a beautiful car I might add. I'm all for personalizing your vehicle to your taste and maybe even go against the grain with what others think. What you are asking is all a matter of personal taste so you will get a wide range of answers. For Porsche lettering on the side, personally I would prefer the style as seen on the heritage designs. Just google Porsche 991 or 992 Heritage Design graphics and you will see the examples I'm referring to. Also, I would have them go the full length including where the stone guards are. Since they are clear, you can do that. Again, this is all just personal taste and opinion.
Thanks very much - thats great feedback - and I do like the heritage font. I have also updated my location details to avoid confusion. Again thanks heaps for your reponse.
Nicely done and well-proportioned to my eye, but I find pure white to be a little contrasty - maybe a shade of grey? My general feel on these things is that anyone who cares already knows that it's a Porsche, so shouting it out seems a bit unnecessary, but that's me.
Absolutely agree - Now that its done I did think I should have gone with dull white as opposed to a gloss white - and was even thinking a greyish black. But in reall life the white goes so well with the graphite blue - maybe if it was slightly smaller lettering? My main objective was to make the car 'mine' - add my touch to the styling. Thank you very much for the response.

The white does go well with the blue but for the white to work youll need one or two other touches of the white somewhere on the car for it be a cohesive contrast. Black would work because it coheres with the black trim of the car. Silver would work because it collaborates with the wheels.
You just need someplace for the white to call back to elsewhere on the car.

Part of why I like the Carrera T stickers is because they match the wheels, mirror, logos on rear, and the engine slats are all painted to match. This gives a cohesive design with consistent accents across the car. I would do the same when adding stickers to another car, also wrap the mirrors, and match to the wheels. So if you have white stickers, would be good to do white mirrors and wheels.
I must admit I didnt like the bars/stripes that go with the standard Porsche decal. A lot of thgem curve up at the end. Maybe ones that go staright across without curving? However what you say about the vinyl does raise a few questions. Do you know if its OK to use a power washer? Will it peel the letters off? Obviously it depends how powerful - but say your standard home appliance (I have the ryobi 130bar). Also do they go off-colour over time? Thanks heaps for your comments - much appreciated
The glory of vinyl is that you haven’t ruined anything. It does need the bars to go with the logo.

Thanks for that - you are right - i do feel it needs more white to balance everything out. Having said that I would love to have something like the 991R stripes going down the middle of the car in white - but it is a daily drive for me and I dont want to go around looking like a racing car every day Here's what it would look like:
Having said that I was thinking of having the bottom black section of the rear vision mirros wrapped in white and the stone guards in white - subtle but hopefully balances everything out a bit more. what about that for an idea?

Its all just vinyl and easily removed if you dont like it. Give it a try.
I would not do the stone guards in white. They take a beating and will look rough in short order. The 911R stripes is a much better idea.
I would do the mirror covers, not the mirror bottoms.
