Question Can't Decide - 2015 GTS 38k miles or 2019 S 11k Miles (Same price)

Both are GT Silver
GTS MSRP - 145k
S MSRP - 135k. S does have the Sports chrono, PSE etc. which was a must for me.

Common sense says go with the 11k mile one but can't seem to decide. Love the NA and the turbo motor as well. They are both unique in their own way.

Tough choice.

Here's how responses usually go with threads like this:

-Neither because I only buy manuals
-Buy the newest one you can afford
-Buy the GTS because...exhaust sound
-Buy the one with the best maintenance records/owner history
-Need more info on options to give opinions
-Buy which speaks to you most
-NA always
-Turbo always
-Buy the newer one because Apple Carplay/Updated infotainment

Hope that helps! 🤣

In all seriousness....it really depends on some of those things I mentioned above in jest. Do you want turbo vs NA? Do you feel one is more special? Have you driven both? I would say start there if you're really undecided. 😉

This is a polarizing question but for me I’d go with the 2019 S. I like the very low miles (practically new) ease of tuning, newer tech, the look of the tail lights and the PSE, it might even have rear axle steering. Of course I’m biased because that’s the car I have and I love the insane power & torque I have and sound with sport cats.

Drive both and you will know and if you’re not sure, then buy neither.

I am leaning towards the low Mile S as well for the same reasons. I do like the GTS more in terms of how it sounds (pse standard) but would need to be at much lower miles to make me feel better. But those are 15k higher in price.
The S does have rear axle steering though am not sure how much that helps on the street. I can’t swap cars since I am in CA.

Ha ha. I have driven both and since I owned a 981 CGTS I do love the sound of the NA motor more. The S feels great in terms of power and with the PSE it’s pretty good as well. Issue is that I am struggling with the mileage on the gts as I want to keep the car for 4 years and I’ll be in the 70k Mile range when it’s time to sell. Yes I know one should not think of resale but that’s the only way to switch cars every 4 years.

Just bought a 2016 GTS. I'd go 2019 S if starting over. The 2016 is missing sooo much down low torque. The 2019's also have three stage TC.

That really helps. Your comment about the 3 stage TC, is that 2017-2019 991.2’s or only in the 2019?

Thanks.

.1 GTS all day long for me. The .2 cars lack character. They are another 3L 6 cylinder with around 450hp and boring acoustic properties (stock). If speed and torque are priorities then an EV will provide both. The .2s just don't beg to be revved the way the .1 cars do. If you care about bragging rights why even buy a Carrera when there are Turbos, GT cars, C8s, Hellcats, etc. There will be at least 2 more generations of anodyne 3L turbo 911s and I suspect they will have even more torque than the 991.2. If I was going to give up the sound and feel I would go for 992 performance.

No one is complaining that 993s lack torque...but then 993 buyers seem to understand what a Carrera is supposed to be.. I love the real turbo cars for what they are FWIW.

End of the day both cars are better than 99.9% of others on the road so you can't go wrong. They are just fundamentally different in philosphy: a naturally aspirated screamer vs a turbo trying to emulate that NA screamer but with more torque and less authenticity. Horses for courses.

That is because you are not in the powerband. You want a square wave torque curve, get a turbo. And besides when I am in traffic (ultra rare), I don't need to accelerate like a jack rabbit.

The last three years I've been on the track with a 992 S, 443 HP. And PDK with lightening quick swifts, it feels faster. I can tell you one thing, I would not straight trade for a new 992 GTS or a used 991.2 GTS with my ultra low mileage 991.1 GTS manual. Certain cars are keepers.

But of course I was used to fast motorcycles, so everything else is slow.

Haha. Aprilia Tuono here :-)

For the cars if it was a low mileage GTS at that price I would be all over it. The choice is tough primarily because both are at my max price point but the GTS miles a kinda high.

Ahhh as a motorcyclist, so you know. I moved to something slower because I wanted range and very long day comfort.

I have not read every response, but is this a short term car (1 or 2 years) or long term keeper car? Is it a daily driver or a weekend toy?

I also prefer low mileage cars but not because of mileage, but how previous owners (usually a few) drove them in a manner you don't want to know about. Short term owners tend not to care. Yeah, I lucked in buying mine from the original owner with 98 miles. Yeah, I know. But my 993 had about 42K miles on it when I bought it.

I wfh and kids drop offs pick ups and all are primarily me because my wife’s work is pretty busy. I plan to use the car for everything and take the kids with me everywhere while they still fit in the back. Likely gonna out 6-8k per year atleast.
