Default 991.1 vs 991.2 Dashboard Swap

I've been trying to replace my leatherette dashboard in a 991.1 2013 Carrera S with the real leather dash. I think I found one in the right color but it's from a 991.2 (2017). I assume it would be identical but there have been some surprises between the two. Does anyone have an idea how to confirm fitment? Does the leathette passenger airbag work on the leather dash? Thanks for any advice.

I am sort of in the same boat as you. I am looking for a 991.2 leather dashboard to replace my damaged leather dashboard in my 2017 tts. I have a feeling that they could be different. I have come across several 991.1 dashboards, but the part #s are different than mine. What color are you looking for?

Perhaps we can exchange leads? I haven’t found too many used 991.2 dashboards in good shape, but some excellent 991.1s. I am looking for a black one with standard stitching. You may want to consider sticking with leatherette, because the leather dashboard are easily damaged by sun and shrinkage.

That's interesting. How do you know what your dash part number is without removing it? I'm worried that I wouldn't know there was a fitment problem until I was 15 hours into the swap find out the head unit doesn't fit, e.g. I'm looking for black leather w/ red stitching but I've been looking for about a year. The one I found needs to have the leather repaired but since it's local I can check it out in person. The only place I know to look is eBay. I've tried other parts sites and no one seems to carry Porsche interiors. Where did you see the 991.1 dashboards?

Thanks for the idea and I did actually talk to the owner about 6 months ago. He looks like he does excellent work but I was hoping to find an OEM dash first. I still might go with them if it turns out I can't use a 991.2 dashboard.

I'm pretty set on swapping it out to leather. I already have the door panels in leather/alcantara/carbon. I swapped the lower dash, and center console with alcantara too. I tend to keep cars for a long time (10+ years) so I really wanted to get it just the way I want. It took me almost 3 years to find this car because I was being kind of picky with color and options (e.g. ducktail).

Don't worry about the leather - my leather dash (2017 C2S) is just fine. I keep it in the garage, so the number of days that it has spent in the sun (other than driving) since I purchased it are minimal.

1. How do you know what your dash part number is without removing it? The only way to confirm the dash is by using your VIN To get the correct P/N. You would need to confirm with the dealer. It’s possible that the 991.1 and .2 are the same, I am not exactly sure.

2. Where did you see the 991.1 dashboards? I have seen one black with red deviated stitching on eBay awhile back. That type of dash new is very expensive. Probably around $5-6K. I will keep an eye out for you. I saw a pristine GTS in orange stitching that sold for $1500

Thanks I don't think I spoke to those companies. I'll give them a shot. I did figure out that there is a different part number between 991.1 and 991.2, 991.552.101.07 and 991.552.101.13, respectively. It looks like the .07 is cheaper than .13 ($3086 and $4286) but I can't imagine why they would have such a different price for nearly the same part. I'll try to talk to one of the online Porsche parts dealers to see if I have this right.

Can I ask where you saw an .07 for $3086? I’ve also been watching and I don’t recall seeing anything below $3500. For around 3k I’d prob go ahead and pull the trigger rather than deal with a used.

It's actually discounted a bit at $2620. I'm not sure what color thread I need because there's more than 1 and I want it to match the door panels. I also don't know if it's truly in stock and ready to ship or if it was superceded by .13.

Are you upgrading from vinyl or does your leather dashboard have bubbles and the leather has become unglued? My 2017 has shrinkage and a few bubbles. I have seen a quite of few 991s with this kind of damage. I am going to try and repair mine, before I get another one. The dash can be a diy, but there are too many fasteners and electrical connectors, and trim are susceptible to break, plus the risk of future rattles.

My 2017 PN is 991.552.101.13.A11 (black) standard stitching,$3797 at sunset. According to sunset, this part # will fit 2012-19 991.

I did see that. That would be pretty good if its the right color. Keep us updated.
