Default Need purchase advice pls

Hi there,

I am trying to decide between two similar cars, 2016 targa gts, Same mileage, same specs and options, one is 10 grand cheaper. The more expensive one has 2 years left of CPO and the other has no warranty. I am leaning towards the security of the CPO but also don’t want to be handcuffed from adding things like exhaust or new multifunction steering wheel and void the warranty.

is the extra 10k worth the CPO?

Absolutely not. Get extended warranty from Fidelity for half (or less) than that.

Take that $10K and put it towards some nice mods like you mentioned.

You did not mention the mileage on the cars. Two 8 year old GTS are not equal even with the same mileage. Some cars have been driven hard and even tracked while others may have been some doctor's commuter. It all depends on your tolerance for risk. Two years unlimited mileage on an eight year old car, especially a Porsche can save you a lot more than $10K. Mods will void the warranty.I have had my CPO 911.2 GTS for almost a year and 8K miles and haven't had the slightest issue. Still my past experience with Porsche tells me that one or two relatively minor issues can eat up significant money at a dealer. Personally the peace of mind and even if you don't save the entire $10K you will most likely need something fixed in the next two years. Pretty hard to get out of the service department at a Porsche dealer for lest than a few K. Once or twice will justify the warranty. Get the warranty and drive it hard as you like knowing if something does go wrong you are covered. Unless you are a DIY guy or have a fantastic indy, those warranties are nice. I have two years CPO and and a 5 year 60k miles warranty through Porsche on top of it. Hate making a sizeable car payment and having a repair bill on top of it. Like to cover the car for the finance period to be safe. What's an extra $80 per month compared to a surprise repair bill of ????$ It's the cost of a mediocre bottle of tequila each month. Just my personal opinion.

To extend my warranty on my 2021 Tundra to 8 years 75K miles (I only have 10k miles on it) is $900 with zero deductible and their platinum package. To go 10 year 100K miles is $1400. Kinda highlights how outrageous Porsche service is....

That is because it is a TOYOTA. A co-worker stepped into my lab and asked me about buying a new reliable car. Easy I said, buy a Toyota.

$10k is a bit steep but the CPO is largely no questions asked for pretty much any part that physically moves. Definitely nice to have.

Exhaust and multifunction wheel will not void the warranty.

Reach out for extended warranty pricing from out provider Fidelity, repairs accepted at all Porsche dealerships and licensed independents in the US/Canada, much more affordable coverage with longer coverage terms available compared to Porsche CPO. You can reach me at tgibson@highline-autos.com or (855) 924-1333 for questions, pricing, and example contracts that explain coverage.

There is one major difference between the two... The profit the dealer is taking after being able to market it as CPO.
There's an *** for every seat.

Well unfortunately, you do not always have the choice when you find the right car.

My 991.1 Carrera 4 GTS with a 7-speed manual, in the color I wanted, with tons of options, XPEL applied to it and with only 98 miles, do you think I was going to turn it down. It still had a year of factory warranty left and I wanted to scrap the CPO to save a few bucks. That wasn't happening.
