Default Crazy for considering selling my GTS for Taycan??

Ok…. Before I make a crazy and impulsive decision here, I may need some advice.

I have spent the better part of 3 years making my GTS perfect. Spent over 30k in parts and countless hours on sourcing the best parts and installation.

I took the family to a car show and now that my kids are getting bigger/older…they were complaining about how cramp they felt. They are 9 and 5 years old.

My wife who loves the way my 911 looks - thinks it’s too loud, too low and too perfect (I won’t park anywhere but a mile a way from where we going to prevent door dings).

My Porsche is paid off - never had a loan on it. So basically I enjoy it for free (except for maintenance and gas) - but for the most part it’s the best car I have ever had and in my opinion one of the best looking with duck tail and wide body. I have never cut corners on the parts for this car - everything I bought was top notch as I planned to enjoy it for many years to come.

My daily is my 2021 Raptor - now my 3rd Raptor and love how easy it is with my family. Wife has a SUV that she loves and likes the 3rd row.

But maybe thinking since my project is done and it’s now been 3 years it’s time for something new??

I would hate to regret this and not be able to find another one. It took me almost a year of constant looking/research to find this one.

Any of you guys get a Taycan or have one - or maybe came from one to a 911???

Here was the car show pic

Alright - I am pumping the brakes. I read all the replies (thank you all!); obviously many of us are biased to the car we drive or forum we are part of.

I thought about it today on the ride home. Many times a drive is a way for me to relax or disconnect from my phone/job. Even my Raptor (what I was driving at the time) has the ability to help me enjoy the drive and forget about the day.

I haven’t tracked my 911 but enjoy having spirited runs with the windows down to cruise. A big part of that is the sounds, smells and nuances of a NA motor.

I realize that although the Taycan will be amazing for the family - I would seriously miss that part of the enjoyment.

Many times during my build I would just go out to the garage with a scotch and admire the lines and want to pinch myself I was lucky enough to even have a project car - let alone a Pcar.

So for now - more miles and smiles with the GTS. I may burn a few more dollars on some upgrades or a wrap it with a different color to freshen up this project to keep it interesting.

I appreciate everyone letting me have my mid-life crisis in this thread.

I'd keep it personally. Good chance you will love the the Tayan and then long for a 911 again. Cheaper just to keep what you already love.

btw, what tent is that? I need one (live in Winter Park) so I can work on my car in this heat...

You have the ideal 3 car setup in my opinion (truck, people mover, sports car). The Taycan does drive very nicely, but it is no 911. I'd drive one as a daily. But personally I feel that unless you are set on trying electric you're probably better off keeping the 911 or getting another fun weekend sports car. Sounds like you want something that has parts to make it a bit of a project car too. Taycan is not a great choice for that either.

Get rid of GTS? Blasphemy! Especially since your car is just about perfect.

No doubt the Taycan is a great EV but at the speed EV technology continues to evolve, you won't be disappointed if you wait a few more years to dive into it. Your 911 as you say is perfect. You can use your other vehicles for family 'comfort'.

I have a 991.1 C2S and last year we bought a Taycan Turbo. The taycan instant torque is addictive. It’s much easier to get in and out of, not that it’s difficult on the 911. It’s more comfortable, and so it’s much more suitable for long trips…just gotta hope those EA stations work as they’re supposed to. Having said that, every tine I take the 911 out it still a blast to drive. So my suggestion is to keep both.

I probably have another 20 years driving until I'm done but I'll never own an electric. POS. I guess that I have a different mindset. I also have done a ton of modding cars in my past, it was very enjoyable fixing and tuning. I now have a 2017 C2 991.2 and all that I want to do is drive it. to pick up groceries or a 1000 mile road trip. it's all about the drive for me and that means flat six twin turbo. I have people in EVs blow by me at the stop light, that's nice, at someone was impressed.

The GTS is a totally different use case. It's the fun car. You have the truck and SUV for the DD type activities. If anything, swap one of those out for a Rivian R1T or R1S.

Not a chance in hell I would trade that GTS for a Taycan. There will be plenty of electric vehicles in the future, but what you have is the last N/A 911 GTS made by Porsche.

There is no way I would get rid of the GTS. I had a Taycan as a loaner for a week. It had a fake sports exhaust piped through the speakers too. lol. Electric cars although nice (especially the torque) are still a pain to live with. I also think the Taycan is just not well developed yet in the EV world. I would wait.

You already have a big pig to daily and romp around in....I couldn't think of a more appropriate complimentary vehicle to a raptor than a 911.

If anything get rid of your raptor and buy an EV to daily.

Getting rid of the 911 doesn't sound like it's ever the answer unless it's for another 911.

Keep the GTS, move one of the other cars for a Taycan if you really want one.

I have my 991, wife has her Cayman R and we have a Audi Q8 for the dog and trips. Love the Taycan, slightly small than my previous Panamera 4S (very comfortable car to drive even on a 12hr straight drive).

Quick Reply: Crazy for considering selling my GTS for Taycan??
