Seems like there was a fairly recent thread about this. Did you try searching?

I only put car wash soap on my painted wheels. I use Adams car wash soap when it's warm out and I can use the foam cannon or Optimum No Rinse (ONR) mixed with water in a spray bottle as a detailing mist in the winter. I've used Adams wheel cleaner in the past on wheels as well with good results, just keep it off the rotors or rinse it off pretty quick. That stuff works amazing at removing iron from the brakes but is best used when the wheels are off the car imho... A good wheel brush helps a ton as well.

I will check out Sonax. I do have wheel cleaning tools I just was looking for the right compound to use to not only clean but protect. I have just been using car wash soap with polymers and keeping them well cleaned but I want to try something that might enhance the finish without causing damage or staining. Especially since I discovered with my Cayenne that certain chemicals seem to cause the rotor drum base to rust.

Just to clarify the rust I am talking about on my Cayenne is not on the brake disc itself which I understand it is the part of the rotor to which the disc is attached. The rotor base although I am not sure of the name. It does not contact the break pads.

ON the car I simply use car wash soap. Of course the rims do not get all that dirty if you wash them often plus I don't get dust off the PCCBs.
OFF the car I use WD40, varsol or Stoner Xenit Cleaner & Remover to get the road tar off the barrels and then clean with car soap or Facto AT30 (a water-based degreaser).
I do not use any over-priced cleaning products.
